052D can find the fast boat first, fire first
Even the fast boat fires, the 052D can shoot these missile down..
To sink a 052d, You need many missiles, probably whole stock of Vietnam navy...

But the problem is these boat are intend to strike near coast which high value PLA/PLAN targets are well defended. We have LD-2000 CIWS, Hq-17 and FM-90 SAM all perfectly design to take out cruise missile near harbour.

We should make sure they'd work well as advertised.
Some US destroyers were still hit that way in the past.

It is only a 500 tons fast boat. similar to China 022 fast boat..
056 is 1500 tons light Corvette, similar to Vietnam Gepard class...

As a small boat at fish boat size, Molniya could hide better.
If your missile quality not so good, you shoot the missile overhead of Molniya crew.

There is a variety of ways in terms of how these ships can be used, they can easily disrupt merchant shipping to and from china as an example.

No. Not any. So they have hundreds of escort fighters to their B-52 fleet. 1 or 2 single Mig-21 of Vietnam just run a guerilla tactic to choose which one to be shot down. B-52 is the most favorite.

Against vietnam? Absolutely no problem. I bet your missiles and aircraft can't even penetrate our first layer of air defense. You are no US. Remember, you are vietnam. CV-16 will not travel alone. It will be escort by 052D/C destroyer, 054A frigate and yuan/ song submarines.

It remains to be seen if 052D can really handle supersonic missiles like yakhont / brahmos and anyway, if enough of a saturation attack, 052D will get hit, it can only intercept so many missiles at a time.
