Deputy Commander-in-Chief of General Staff of Vietnam People Army, Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khue met with visiting Commandant of the National Defence College of Bangladesh, Lieutenant General Mollah Fazle Akbar in Hanoi on September 21.

Applauding Lieutenant General Mollah Fazle Akbar’s visit, Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khue said he hopes through this fact-finding tour, Akbar and his delegation will get a deeper understanding on the nation, people and army of Vietnam, as well as its defence and foreign policies.

The two sides should continue to develop bilateral defence cooperation through exchanging delegation of all levels, personnel training, and sharing experience on participating in United Nations peace-keeping activities, contributing to strengthening the friendship, trust and understanding between the two nations and armies, he added.

Lieutenant General Mollah Fazle Akbar briefed the host the outcome of the working sessions between his delegation and the Vietnamese side.

He expressed his pleasure at the friendship and cooperation between the two armies, which has been continuously strengthened and developed for peace and stability in the region as well as in the world.

Who advised and directed BD army to venture into Vietnam in this juncture when geo political tussle is ongoing in the South China sea? This is very bad timing and move by BD army. This definitely will irk our main arms supplier and make indians happy and serve their purpose.

Its gonna be a new one and included with the MBT-2000 contract...There is another heavy mechanized plant which was built with the help of China and All the type 59 and type 69 tanks are being upgraded locally in this plant.

Did you consider what it means before saying it?

Setting up tank overhauling facility has no military or strategic implication what so ever in geo politics surrounding Bangladesh. Specially when tank has virtually no value considering terrain and threat perception for Bangladesh. It may look nice toy for some but in reality tank has almost no practical value for Bangladesh.

Having said that strategic and geopolitical relation and interaction does not get influenced by tank overhauling facility but it does get effected by military level contact with enemy while hostility is at peak. If you can not see the difference you are going in wrong direction.
