That's the way wannabe separatists should be deal with. I'd say he was pretty kind compared to what should have been done. The very fact that Israel allows such protests to happen is appreciable considering that if Jews were to protest for a separate country inside any of the current Islamic country regimes, they'd never be heard of again.

The man acted in self defense against a hostile crowd that got in his face, he should have pushed and not put the M-16 in the face(No matter how tempting it was)...

2) Free elections.
3) Free press.
4) Independent courts, which can prosecuty prime ministers and presidents.
5) Arabic is official language in Israel.

Where's the proof that he didn't break his own finger to help him refrain from his crimes? And, to my knowledge, if any Israeli officer is attacked like that, they would admittedly beat and arrest the attacker.
