NEW DELHI: Anna Hazare's major demand is set to be met with the government on Thursday deciding to have a discussion in the Lok Sabha on Friday on the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Sources said the discussion will take place on the bill in the shape of a "document" and its salient features after which the records of the debate are expected to be sent to the parliamentary standing committee examining the Lokpal Bill.

It was, however, not clear immediately whether the debate would be held under Rule 193 or Rule 184, which entails voting.

The decision in this regard was reached during hectic parleys within the government, which included Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Subsequently, Singh held consultations with senior ministerial colleagues Pranab Mukherjee and A K Antony.

The decision to hold the discussion marks meeting of a major demand of Hazare who said only then he would decide on ending his 10-day fast.

Anna Hazare has made three demands to the Prime Minister--- citizen's charter, lokayuktas in all states with Lokpal powers and inclusion of lowest to highest bureaucracy.

During the discussion, members will be free to speak on Aruna Roy's version of Lokpal Bill as also another version.

In view of the discussion, Parliament will have a sitting on Saturday, the sources said.

Parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal also held a meeting with Mukherjee on the issue of discussions.

The meeting took place soon after Hazare reacted to Parliament's appeal to end his fast and demanded that it discuss from tomorrow three key issues on Jan Lokpal and create an agreement first.

He has warned that if the Parliament failed to do this, he will not end the fast.

Bansal also had a meeting with law minister Salman Khurshid apparently to work out the format for such a discussion. East Delhi MP Sandip Dikshit, who also been involved in negotiations with Team Anna, was also present in the meeting.

The meetings took place on a day when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told the Lok Sabha that Parliament will find effective ways and means to discuss the Jan Lokpal Bill, along with the government version of the Bill, Aruna Roy's Bill and the paper presented by Jaiprakash Narayan. He also made an appeal to the Gandhian to end his fast.

Hold your breath....many incidents are yet to be happened.....

Do trust this congress......

After Rajib Gandhi, this congress has no right to run this country....every congress leader is corrupted....

They can do anything...they can even murder Anna if Anna makes a single mistake.

So everybody...HOLD YOUR BREATH....and pray for Anna and Jan Lokpal Bill.... :azn:

When I hear this bit of news and the associated coverage by Arnab Goswami on the News Hour , I am reminded of a quote that I had heard years ago. It goes like this......"The responsibility of a country is not in the hands of a privileged few. We are strong, and we are free from tyranny as long as each one of us remembers his or her duty as a citizen........ speak out! Ask those questions.Demand that truth. Democracy is not a free ride, man."

They are basically dialogues from the movie 'Fair Game'. It is about the Iraq War and how the US government subverted democracy and truth in its haste to attack Iraq. When a diplomat and his CIA agent wife question the government assertions of WMDs in Iraq, they are simply cast aside and crushed. Only, they refuse to stay crushed. The dialogues are from the film but the story is real.

For the first time since we became an independent nation, the entire middle class of India has woken up and is asking questions, absenting from jobs or taking leave to support Anna, getting out of their cozy comfort zone and actually making their presence felt. This is the section of India's population which has been taken for granted by India's polity for 64 years. these are the same people who have not budged while the nation has gone from bad to worse. All we heard them say was, " Kya fayeda? nothing will make any difference......things will not change........Jo ab tak hota raha hai wohi hota rahega". These were the educated, conscientious people of India who sneered at elections and never voted. Because they believed that the votes had already been bought. It was these very same people who were on the streets in India for the last fortnight. It is them who have caused the government to pause, think, do a U turn. Why did they do this? Why did they come out in such frightening numbers that forced the govt to rapidly revise its thought process? They did it because, the saw hope. They saw that, indeed, they too can make a difference. They realised that 'Jo hamesha hota raha hai does not mean 'wohi hamesha hota rahega' and it is they who can make the difference.

All I can say is that Indian democracy has just become a bit maturer. For this we can thank Anna.

Has Anna, stoped his fasting, I wish he had, his life is precious, we need him to make sure that Jan Lokpal gets passed.
Congress can do anything to subdue the MOB...

its about time! At least they will listen , but all is not done. Keep an eye out for the fine print! I emphasize the small print because they will use everything they have to manipulate the masses. After this, the Indian gov;t should drop the charges and bring back the Indian researcher who proved the electronic voting machines can be hacked and proved that elections can be rigged. Sometimes, we make go far ahead other nations where no other nations will go due to -------------> CORRUPTION. The guy who exposed this should be given a medal. Scumbags in gov;t would not even acknowledge there is a serious security issue. We all know why. Don;t be foolish...

In 1982, In Singapore, LOKPAL BILL was implemented and 142 Corrupt Ministers & Officers were arrested in one single day.. Today Singapore has only 1% poor people & no taxes are paid by the people to the government, 92% Literacy Rate, Better Medical Facilities, Cheaper Prices, 90% Money is white & Only 1% Unemployment exists.
