VHP demands ban on entry of non-Hindus into Kashi

There are some mandirs/temples were non-hindus are not permitted in India i remember one case where a white chap was refused entry yet this person was a hindu convert! but he was still refused its a shame.

Guruvayur they dont allow non-Hindus inside. May be Tirupati also.

I dont know much about North Indian Temples.

Really? I used to go the Uttara - Guruvayurappan temple almost everyday with my non-hindu friends.

Not because we were religious, but because that was the closest source of potable water after a game of cricket

There was another sad case where Bali hindus were refused entry to a temple because they did not look 'hindu' as in the Indian sense. I mean hinduism is a tolerant religion which accepts all into the fold who are these men to refuse entry to others they think they are guardians of the religion or something stupid such persons.

Yeti thats true... Hinduism as such does not prevent any non-hindus from entering the temples, it is just a few of the religious guardians (aka gatekeepers) who decide who to let in.

The situation is similar all over the world... somewhere the gatekeepers allow somewhere they don't. I have visited several Hindu temples in North America and none of them objected to non-hindus entering the temples.

VHP has giving their view, Right or wrong that different matter but they are trying for solution.

Kashi has a far bigger danger from Raw Sewage flowing into the Gaga all along its banks.

I agree with VHP that Kashi should be declared as an Protected Heritage Site.

Security must certainly be beefed up and VHP is most certainly entitled to voice its views.

Why restrict entry into Temples? Don't Hindus believe that there are many ways to get to God? Will they stop me, an atheist from entering a temple too?

Because entry into a temple is governed by the rules of Agma Shastra. Non Hindus and Atheists first needs to learn those and practice it before they can enter a temple.

Muslims should make a Mecca in Hyderabad and shouldn't allow non Muslims
Christians can make a small Vatican in Kerala and shouldn't allow non Christians
Same goes with other religions
