Commenting on the development, Dr Rehman said it had been decided to build the “National Engineering and Emerging Technology Institute” at the PM House.

“The institute will not offer undergraduate degrees and focus on research and development,” he added.

The institute will offer research and education facilities from MSc to PhD covering various subjects including Artificial Intelligence, industrial biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology, genomics, economic governance, water and food security, energy, future of the atmosphere, glaciers, strategies for coping with natural calamities, applied biotechnology and cyber security.

Pakistani governments need to stop this madness and fetish with "building new universities", all these new universities built in Pakistan in the last 20 years are producing mostly unemployable graduates. The government needs to invest only in Technical colleges where students take admission directly after their high school certification. Just make them learn technical and useful skills through technical and skill based diplomas ranging from 1 to 3 years depending on the complexity of the skill/technical field.

Turn the youth into "organized active workers" and not "chair sitters".
