Pakistan can make due with it's budget.

It's just that macro-economic isn't promoted and neither is there a focus on micro. Thousands of ghost employees, imbalanced benefits for govt officials/employees/elected, PIA/PSM bailouts, taxi loan schemes. Just break the state machinery apart.

The Ethiopian drought back in the 80s took years to bring the deaths to mainstream, year to bring food, and then destroyed the local economy because food was coming year after year when there wasn't a drought causing farmers to not work and when the food did stop coming people starved because everyone gambled that the food donations would arrive.

Pakistan's biggest expenses are loan repayments and defense expenditure. It is appropriate to ask why should others fund Pakistan's social development when it itself refuses to do so in a manner needed by its population, especially when donors are vilified for their assistance to peddle a particular domestic narrative.

The money has not been given to the members of the provincial assembly to spend as they please, as what happens with their discretionary local funds. These are US taxpayers dollars and their expense must be recorded and audited according to US laws. By law, USAID funds cannot be used for bribes or go unrecorded.

Please do not forget the Sindh government's responsibilities regarding these funds as well. USAID fully meets its own reporting requirements as determined by US laws.
