Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday said all the world powers including United States (US) were making India potent against Pakistan by supplying arms, ARY News reported.
“Our foreign policy has not failed because we do not solely rely on America,” he said while addressing a ceremony regarding Youm-e-Takbeer in Sialkot.
The minister lamented that US and other world powers were providing arms to India, while F-16 jets and military aid to Pakistan was being blocked despite its uncountable sacrifices in the war on terror.
Commenting on US drone strike in Noshki, Balochistan, Asif said the attack sabotaged Afghan peace process. “Afghanistan is still unstable as it was before 9/11,” he said.
He slammed that Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah, sitting back in Afghanistan, orchestrates massacre of innocent children in Pakistan, but the US takes no action against him.
This should be noted here that F-16 deal is said to have expired amid Pakistan-US row over finances. U.S. had said it would not be financing the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan after the U.S. Congress went against deal. In return, Pakistan said it will acquire jets from elsewhere if the US did not fund the purchase.
The relations between the two countries have got tensed since the US apparently violated Pakistan’s air space and killed Taliban chief Mullah Mansour Akhtar in Noshki, near Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The defence minister said had Pakistan not been an atomic power, the world would not have let Pakistanis live.
yes sir thats right
Whats the use of being a close ally of the US when we cannot even get the latest tech even countries not that much of US ally have more and better F-16s than PAKISTAN . For example it took Pakistan 30 years to get 76 F-16s on the other hand : UAE got 79 block 60s ,Turkey 200 + F-16s block 52+ , Egypt 220 F-16s ,Saudia Arabia 160 F-15s in no time although Pakistan has been fighting Americas war all this time Yae khula taizad nahi ?
that happens when you take your indegenous programmes too lightyly to make a quick bukk with "phoren maal"IAF had a ZOO ; now navy will also have a Zoo ( too many types of planes )

Okay sir
it is bro it is we need 5th gen naval fighter too and niether Naval variant of FGFA/PAKFA or AMCA is bieng made or under development as of now so since F35C is ready do we have another choice ?That is true but F 35 is of no use to India
PAF it seems wants to stick with the original plan of having at least 118 jets (original purchase -- before we were sanctioned) or at least complete the f-16 century..
Personally I believe we should get a squad of new F-16s by hook or crook & keep developing the JF... And get 1-2 SQDs of J series Flankers or SU-35s to protect our coastal economy or the 6th province ..
India is only buying what it needs, it has helped that the economy has been on an upswing these past 15 odd years so the military can afford the hardware. There is also an indigenous component to the Indian military, most notably in the Navy, as well as co development with major players like the Israelis and Russians in air defence and aircraft etc so it's not entirely about what is on offer.I dont think there is any disagreeing over the fact when it comes to numbers fielded by India and Pakistan. Naturally India is bigger in size with more resources, man power and certainly a bigger area to defend with. Our point is about the potent hardware that is on offer to India and that will tilt the balance of power even more so In India;s favour. That is where the contention lies and hence our objection.
Nah, I think the point was "how are F-16 essential counter insergency weapons?"What is there for domestic consumption? Has the US not offered top of the line hardware to India? Nobody is debating in the US congress of use of those weapons against Pakistan but on the other hand a handful of F-16s suddenly become a threat for India.
Defense minister is on point here.
