US Travel Blogger Recounts Horror Story About Being Stalked, Harassed and Trapped in Delhi OYO Room

A good assessment, especially the part about obsession with fair skin but this obsession is common in Pakistan too, if one reads some of the posts on PDF.

And the "Fair & Lovely" fairness cream sells in Pakistan too.

This is not about obsession with white skin, it is more about women travelers whites specially facing stalking, groping, harassment and rapes in India..white skin or not.

In Pakistan, being a Muslim society with strict social norms and values, this is rare and cannot happen widely as they do in India.

Blame it on skewed gender ratio, flesh trade, P*rnography widely practiced in India, prostitution legalized there, ranks one or two in the world...many other social and moral degradation and degeneration as well in India...

Obsession with white color and trying to be fair is a separate issue in the above context of this thread.

Very true, it's funny how Indians get on the net and brag about their filthy culture, society and country.

They brag about it just for the very reason to make false perception, lies and deceit, deception and falsehood to make India look good.

If they were any good and civilized...they need not brag, boast and chest thump about it, others would have said good things about it and not Indians.

Did someone dear to you get raped by Indian that you had to call all the Indians rapists, that like calling all your country men terrorists .don't go full retard
Why so much anger?
We are on international forum just wanted to warn western tourist that India is not a safe country for women even any living walking creature.

Naive Western masses. Just because their government's are in bed with India to contain China they are made to believe that India is incredible LOL This is the amount of impact their media and governments have. They can brainwash their masses at will. Too bad this dream is being shattered the moment they land in India.

Even some Indians are waking up to the reality...

I am Indian...and I must say that India is not what it is portrayed abroad...as peaceful and loving...no way...India is a hopeless violent and superstitious culture...people have to grasp this and come to India at their own risk...no one is going to help them...not even police...India is a very lawless place... I am indian and I have to tell the truth and not tell lies...I tell the truth...there is much to improve culturally in India than in other places of the world...

Travellight I am sorry deeply for your suffering here...I don't know what to say to you...my heart goes out to you...I am a man and I don't represent with the people that you confronted... I wish you would come again here and forgive our stupid men...ignore them and I pray keep safe here...welcome again...

Unlike in India Pakistanis don't rape blue eyed white female tourists. In India this is a well documented case. A very important distinction to make.

I don't disagree with that.

India needs some strict socialist discipline to remove the various ills in its society.

I also agree that Pakistan is a more welcoming society, as also testified by various Indians who visited Pakistan, like the actress Swara Bhaskar and the former actress-politician Ramya. The latter, after her trip to Pakistan and coming back to India, said something along the lines that Pakistan is not hell. She was threatened with sedition charges by the ultra-nationalists here.

As for white skin. Pakistanis are genetically much fairer to Indians. Just because white creams are sold here doesn't mean we are as fanatical about our skin as Indians.

My perception of some of the Pakistani males at least is of people like your politician Sheikh Rasheed, who looks like men from Delhi/Chandigarh type of areas in India.

As for Pakistani women, however fair, most don't hold attraction for me. Except some like Gul Panra. Now that's a s3xy woman !!

But you have to accept that there is racism in Pakistan whereby dark brown people are called "Churas" or "Bhangis".

This is not about obsession with white skin, it is more about women travelers whites specially facing stalking, groping, harassment and rapes in India..white skin or not.

I will say that India as a society doesn't have discipline in the background culture. Especially the males here take freedom for granted and that is because India got freedom not through a freedom struggle like say in Algeria.

'It's like I was in a horror movie. I couldn't relax in my bed at night because this was the place where I was supposed to feel safe.'

India is not a safe country for women. While people will claim we've progressed in terms of mentality, India still continues to be the most unsafe country in the world for women. That is not debatable. That is a fact.

This fact remains true of the women also visiting India - as tourists, or as people here for work. A US travel blogger was not exempt from the treatment an everyday woman faces in India.

Jordan Taylor, who is a US-based travel blogger known for Travellight and has a Youtube channel, which documents her adventures. At the beginning of 2016, Jordan left her life in Miami behind to travel the world with no particular destination or end date. Her most recent stop was India, where she faced a harrowing experience.

In a vlog, she opens up about an experience she says is still difficult for her to talk about, and was the result of what is still a "traumatizing experience" for her.

Taylor states how at the end of her trip which had otherwise been great, some really negative things started happening. "Men, who randomly passed by would reach out and start touching me, groping me." She specifies one instance, where a man "leaned into my face and said 'I want to **** you.'"

She also shares how she stayed in a 5-star hotel which gave her full name, room number and other personal details out to a stalker.

Then she shares the scariest bit about her trip. She says she checked into a hotel room, which was a property under OYO in Delhi's Paharganj.

She states how after her boyfriend left the hotel four days before she did, the hotel staff instantly started acting differently to her. "At one point one person even followed me up the stairs." She began to get menacing phone calls on the hotel room phone, and mentions how "this phone was only accessible by the hotel and it's employees so I knew it was one of them calling."

The phone calls contained things like, a long stretched out, "Heyyyyy baby" and "sexual noises and heavy breathing into the phone," with lewd noises and obscene included.

Two days before she was set to leave, someone came to her room, asked her to open the door, and at her refusal, came back with something heavy and banged it on the door. Then, she heard the main switch for her AC being switched off, which was located outside her door. After they switched it off, they demanded loudly that "the AC was broken, and we need to come inside to fix it." Obviously aware of what had happened, Jordan didn't answer her door. The hotel staff left and telephoned stating the same thing. This same gesture was then repeated by turning the Wifi off.

After this, she could see shadows under the door, as the person would move and come back. Soon, she could see the shadows of multiple people outside the door. While they repeatedly kept asking Taylor to open the door, she didn't respond, "Because I felt that if I opened the door, something bad would happen."

Recalling the experiences in the video, Taylor started choking up and stopped talking for a moment.

She said that the shadows were constant outside her door and "this went on for two days." While this incident unfolded, Taylor was stuck inside with no water or food. "It was like I was being hunted," she states. "It's like I was in a horror movie. I couldn't relax in my bed at night because this was the place where I was supposed to feel safe."

She also shares a video of the shadows that were present under her door.

Realizing that she couldn't leave, she noticed a small period in the early hours of the morning when the shadows would disappear, so she took that opportunity and left for the airport at 3 AM in the morning.

While she stayed brave through the ordeal at the hotel, she says that she lost her composure after leaving - and was crying in airports all over the world. Taylor also talks about being angry and annoyed at the situation, and wondering what she could have done differently.

She ends the video stating how she has had a good time in India before this - but the experience ruined it for her. She continues on how she was going to be part of what was "her dream project" in India with a company, but she couldn't take that project on anymore. She says it did not make sense for her to release the current video she was in, and then at the same time release other videos of adventure and fun with the company that she was supposed to be working with. She says that while she would like to visit India again, it wouldn't be for a while.

Reddit India in a tweet shared Taylor's experience, and OYO Rooms responded, stating that they were looking into the issue.

Yes, India is great, India is beautiful let's all thump our chest and cry out that India is the safest country in the universe.
This sounds like it could actually turn out into a really great yet scary horror movie.

Yes, India is great, India is beautiful let's all thump our chest and cry out that India is the safest country in the universe.

Most foreigners with such stories are because they ended up going to dangerous areas. It's obvious they will meet those categories of people in such areas.

Take Paharganj for example, where Jordan Taylor lived, the lowest of the low live there. Who in their right mind will go and live in a city kennel?

https://www.deccanherald.com/content/419461/move-over-gb-road-massage.html
The hotels in central Delhi’s Paharganj are well-known among backpackers looking for a cheap stay. The streets also display hundreds of posters advertising cheap ‘female to male’ and ‘male to female’ massage services.

Calls made by the reporter to the advertised phone numbers confirm that the parlours also promote prostitution and offer a range of sexual services. They are a substitute for those who do not wish to visit the capital’s infamous red light area, the GB Road – Garstin Bastion Road.

These people end up in places where respectable city folk do not enter just to save a few bucks and then complain about harassment. It's no different from idiots walking into traffic.

India is not for dumbasses. Dumbasses get eaten alive here. Those who are smart walk away safe and sound with happy memories.

That's why we have increasing foreign arrivals.
https://www.thehindubusinessline.co...gn-tourist-arrivals-up-14/article24617365.ece
There has been 14 per cent growth in foreign tourists arrivals (FTAs) in India in 2017 as compared to 2016.

The next time anyone visits India, please use some common sense and get your itinerary planned out properly. Don't book rooms in poor areas just to save a bit of money, it's dangerous even for adult men. Don't get your information from touts, get it from govt approved help desks. Even approaching a family (husband with wife and kids, not 2 brothers) for assistance when you're lost will do you good, even shopkeepers are fine. Always remember: Stranger danger.

If you want to walk into dangerous areas, then do so in groups during the day.

Long story short: She's a retard who tried to bite more than she could chew. And her boyfriend is a bigger retard for leaving her alone in a dangerous area.

India is simply not for dumbasses.
