Speaking of dollar. Let’s say I am an Iranian businessman and I sell 10 million worth of goods to Turkey. Since we exchange only in national currency I get 10 million TL. I need to buy some technology from Europe because Turks don’t make stuff that I need. Europeans don’t want Lira. They want euros/dollars. I could give TL to my govt and get $€. But Iranian economy is ten times worse that Turkish. No $€. Ok so I ask Russians who also trade in national currency. But Russians afraid to get sanctioned. I ask Chinese. They shrug their shoulders and say “what the fuk are we gonna do with 10 million TL. It bounds our hands because we have to spend it buying Turkish goods only since no one else wants TL. Besides it’s not a stable currency.
That’s why dollar is irreplaceable.
