I dont think heavy attack copters would be used to fight terrorists or insurgents.They are more suited for war like situations like taking out tank formations or attack enemy bases.I dont think LCH can do what lets say an Apache can do.So we must look for some heavy copters also.

Apache long bow is a great choice for Indian military. why wouldn't this be a slam dunk decision is beyond me. Maybe the politicians are figuring out the kickbacks they can get for each deal and base decisions on the kickbacks.

"Great" may not be same for every country as the need varies .

India is poised to go for a mix of 64D/Mi-28 and mass produced LCH and weaponised Dhruv combo.

With P8i,C-130Js,C-17s, in the kitty with very proffesional decision making demo from the indian side kickbacks are not any viable cause for the delay.

But why buy all the variety out there. It will become a maintainence nightmare. India should just get one of each class of weapons. Why make it more diversify than the US military?

I am more inclined to MI 28 we will always have issues with USA supplies sanctions etc. Russia is our main ally.

True, but its only for a small number, so even hit by sanctions, won't meant to much. Adding 126 - 200 US fighters instead, is a whole different point and much too risky! They have to prove themself as reliable first, so specialised arms in smaller numbers like Apache, C130J, or C17 are ok, while the big deals must go to reliable countries.

Why US never sanction Japan, Australia and Britain but had sanction India? I think India should rethink its strategy and become a member of western alliance. It should learn from Japan and Australia and model their relationship with the US. If that is the case, US can supply India F-35 and other advance technology and India won't have any concern about sanctions. India should also host US bases and allow US to ensure that other countries would never harm India.
