US responsible for the Murder of Pakistani Troops - Pak Rejects NATO Probe

Yes, but in this case I think a formal response would be only advantageous to the Pakistani position, to build up pressure on NATO to rectify the damages caused by the mistakes that they have admitted to in their report.

The Army will have to give a response since the report has been communicated to Pakistan. Whether it is a direct response or indirect and whether it will be public or not remains to be seen.

Exactly. The dialogue has to move forward to resolve the crisis.

no i think its backfired on them .

I think the boots on the ground want to get the hell out of there, but the US government knows that if the soldiers were to return home, they would have rise in unemployment which would have an adverse effect on the economy.

They wanted to test the waters with Pakistan and now they know that even if the Army were to stage coup in Pakistan they could easily come in and invade the country.

A coup right now would be very foolish as we would be left vulnerable to attack by the cowboys.

There would be probably some statement.

The wording and content of that statement, if and when it comes, would be important as a indicator of the possible ways to resolving this crisis.

Even if we assume that the Pakistanis did open fire first, it only happened because NATO did not follow the SOP already in place and forgot/chose/ignored to inform the Pakistani authorities beforehand about its movement along the Border. If that had been done, there would not have been any reaction from the Pakistanis and a counter-reaction by the NATO. If one was to tail this incident all the way through to determine responsibility, it would squarely sit atop NATO as it was its actions which started off everything.

or of not resolving this crisis !

Apparently we fired first.... though no evidence still, we know just how trustworthy they are.

  1. First it was chasing terrorists under the guidance of Afghan police...
  2. Secondly, they say that the taliban led them into our territory, no saying what caused our troops deaths.
  3. Then they say that it was highly likely that they caused the deaths, no word of the distress call PA sent to them, and their response.
  4. Then they say that PA/GoP authorized the strike, needless to say, why would they come up with such a story, when NATO had knowledge of the location of our checkpoints?
  5. Now they say they came under fire after they trespassed into OUR territory, well I wonder who told them they'd receive garlands and sweets for trespassing in our territory?

They lie! F**k NATO!

any 'kinetic activity' on either side of the border requires both sides to 'inform' each other - thats why the 'liaison' officers are posted on each side. the article clearly states that the US/NATO/ISAF did not inform PK about this activity. they informed after the attack had started. - the rest of the narration is mere 'spin' as we can see from the headlines in the WSJ and the NYT, the veritible 'spokesman' of the CIA/State/Pentagon. the US will never admit its failure - their cupboards are full of such examples.

One of the resolution is to close down airspace to the Americans as well. By eliminating the need for any further American input into the matter, the issue would be resolved.

Pakistanis can't be satisfied till Americans admit they deliberately attacked.

Why is the civil society organizing protests in Cities n disrupting traffic? They should organize a huge one in front of the US embassy cum CIA base in Islamabad instead and hold a pissing contest there as a form of protest. That would send a nice message to Obama and his military mafia.

FIRE these Pakistani officials immediately!

Obama can keep his apology. The NATO routes should be closed PERMANENTLY.
Closing the routes permanently wouldn't be an adequate response. I propose Nato supplies stuck at the borders should be auctioned off to the Iranians to reimburse the families of the soldiers and close down the fu$king Nato Terminal in Karachi.

Closing down airspace represents escalation, not resolution. What would be gained by that? That would be imprudent.

The question we have to ask of our guys is... Why are we obliging the US with the airspace corridor after they just made a mockery out of the 24 lives lost?
