Watching the interview Trump's comment about making a deal with China has been misinterpreted by some. The comment is put into context when watching the interview, and what he meant is that he is confident that the US can make (or put another way, can force...) a good deal for the US. He said that the Tariffs are hurting China (many here will argue it isn't) but that China isn't ready to settle a deal.

In the meantime, he will try to force China's hand with the new Tariffs on $256 billion of imports. It is becoming apparent that China will try to wait out Trump and see what happens after the mid term elections and beyond.

The mistake I believe China is making is placing too much importance on Trump himself, and not recognizing the groundswell of support in the US on both sides of the house for this trade war. The adversarial position that US policy makers and other forces at work are taking with China signals a long term shift in the relationship between the two nations.

Utter madness.

I wonder what is the endgame.

Most likely US resorting to covert military tactics against Chinese government interests across the world. Maybe target large-scale infra projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

May not be direct due to the threat of nuclear war, but covert strikes definitely.

The US wants to drive manufacturing out of China, weakening her industrial base, increasing US exports, stopping China stealing western technologies.

That sums it up quite succinctly.

Delusional Vietnam,Of course, better than despair.

CN is Nothing without US's protection since 1979. U r even surrounded in a so called "S.CN sea" (east VN sea).

Your death (in 2023) is obvious, CN cant even compete wt VN in SCS(east VN sea), so let alone US navy.

.
There is no trade war. This is just the new normal. China does not grant the privilege of trade to hostile nations like the US. They can jump up and down about some imaginary "trade war" if they wish. It will not change our policy.

That sums it up quite succinctly.
I predict what will come. Prepare yourself for the perfect storm. There is a reason why China communist chief Xi Jinping is nervous. He repeatedly calls on the PLA readying for war.

Good luck!

.
No, thats good news for some countries like VN as many investors decide to shift their factories from CN to VN, Thai, Malay etc..and US r also buying more VN products ro replace CN ones

win win for US- VN Thai Malay while CN is loser, 1,4 billions Cnese r losers

I guess retarded agent orange people will be able to do the jobs of 1.4 billion "Cnese"

The US, on both sides, gravely mistake China's kindness for weakness. When you expect slavishness and get self defense, it comes off as arrogance, but the Americans will learn their place very soon. If not already; $9 trillion wiped out on the stock markets and counting. Farmer suicides are going up.

Your weak pathetic soldiers tried to take China's Xisha Islands. Now China dredged them up and turned them into islands :sniper::sniper::sniper::flame::flame::flame:

I'm sure Africans will love it once they discover the CIA is bombing their power plants.

So their propaganda outlets are trying hard to reset the crumbling image of the U.S. just glossing over all their failures, kickbacks and embarassment they had to endure, ahead of the next round of begging China for at least some small phyrric victory ahead of the elections.

The awesome perks of this so called "democracy" where everything is just a sham of oligarchs.
