US removes Pakistan from National Security threat list

Donald Trumps’ main character trait is to judge others by his standards. In practice, this translates into “I am a Know –All and am always right. Anyone /or any country that disagrees with me is anti-American and my enemy.”

Trump had been anti-Pakistan even before he took office. In 2015, Trump labeled Pakistan as the "The most dangerous country in the world". After taking office, Trump indicated that Pakistan will be among the countries whose citizens will have to go through an “ Extreme vetting” process before entering the United States.

He again denounced Pakistan in his speech in August 2017 saying” We have been paying Pakistan billions and billions of dollars at the same time they are housing the very terrorists that we are fighting,” he declared “But that will have to change, and that will change immediately.” Soon after he delayed a $255-million reimbursement for the expenses incurred during Pakistani military operation against extremists. In 2018 New Year denounced Pakistan for its “lies & deceit,” which led to a broader freeze on most U.S. military aid Later he canceled the $300-million in military aid to Pakistan.

It would, therefore, be extremely naïve to expect any kindness or generosity towards Pakistan as long as Donald Trump remains in power. My intense dislike for Donald Trump is also for three additional reasons.

1. Donald Trump is the most pro-Israeli US President among the long line pro-Israeli US Presidents since WW2. He recognized Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel. As if that was not enough, he has now accepted the Golan Heights as the part of Israel as well.

2. India appears very large in the Trump administration’s strategic thinking and a major element in the informal defense alliance aimed at counterbalancing China. While a candidate for the presidency, Trump had declared that “India is doing well, but that the country isn’t getting the attention it deserves.”

3. Since taking office he has unilaterally pulled out of the ‘North American Free Trade Agreement’, Iran Nuclear Deal, Trans-Pacific Partnership, revoked $200-milion economic aid to the Palestinians and withdrew from the UNESCO. But the ‘Coup De Grace’ was his announcement of the USA withdrawal from the Paris Agreement; an international accord on limiting greenhouse gases; in June 2017.

In my opinion, the world needs Donald Trump like we need a hole in the head and humanity, in general, would breathe a sigh of relief when this demagogue (here I mean someone who makes use of the popular prejudices to gain power) disappears from the US political scene.

Pakistanis would forgive Trump for all those if he pulls US out of Afghanistan. He seems serious about Afghan pullout.

I think some of his positive remarks about Pakistan in recent times have been for our efforts in peace talks in Afghanistan. They will try and be on our good side as long as these peace talks continue.
IK has done well to handle US till now, at least we have someone who can give a proper reply.

you play a double game and you expect others to pay for it

Explain why Pakistani army needs American tax payer dollars when Afghan peace accords are signed in 1988

Man you could have stopped paying without pointing fingers tonward our nukes. But the friendship was one way street... that is what we call double game.

It is not simple. China likes a working relationship with India and vice versa.

But does USA want a working relationship between the two ? Cough cough...

A very sober realization whereas most Pakistanis continues to delude themselves on warming Pakistan-US relations, including members of Pakistan's government and military.

Outside of Afghanistan, there's a divergence of interests between Pakistan and US and it's been occurring soon after the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union. China was emerging and US seeks closer relations with India to counter it. 9/11 and the GWOT was a temporary diversion, but even then US was courting India.

Now Pakistan is clearly in China's camp and this makes easier for everyone.

I agree with what you said. But could you develop a little bit the part where you said it is easier for everyone please ?

The headline is misleading, it makes it sound like this is a US administration announcement. As of now this is just a suggestion by a think tank.

There has been a complete failure by the Pakistani think tanks, govt & other commentators on the nonsense that the US has ‘given billions & billions’ to Pakistan.

The figures that they provided were nothing, they were still a net loss for the Pakistani economy and billions more were lost from tourism, investments and lives lost. But the US especially Republicans still proceed with this talking point.

. .
Yes using corruption. I know how they treated red indians the native of what is called America.

We were friends of USA once. But they weren’t true friends. It was one way. We believed that it was both way. It wasn’t.

When we understood that, we did what we had to do. And USA was unhappy and accused us to be not honest. We lost the thrust we had about USA.

US was not funding 20% of Pakistani GDP so a spoilt tyrant like Ayub Khan can waste it all on his 1965 adventure.

You have no chance of beating India the way America beat Japan or Nazi Germany. You want to seize small amounts of Indian territory and use it as a bargaining chip. beg the international community (read USA) to mediate
That is totally and utterly irrelevant to the fact that Pakistan doesn't ask USA to finance it's war against India (That was what you claimed).

And on a side note, your statesmen were as shocked on 27th of Feb as the one with a big mustache and bloody nose.
Here we again so exaggerating and lying. You did not pay for 80 F-16s. You paid for 28 F-16s. You eventually got your money back. I believe 71 F-16s were ordered.
We were not given back our money at that instant, infact we were even charged for keeping those engines in a running state. Asked to take wheat and soya beans for that money. You do make it sound as if these things were straight forward but they weren't.
US sanctions and actions have always been discriminatory, history is a testament to that.

We are taking about 1965 and 1971 when US had an arms embargo on Pakistan

Oh, shut up with that bullshit comment.

Pakistan never supported bin laden. And Pakistan never was obliged to go to war with the Afghan taliban.

Pakistan has done what is in Pakistan's interests, and Pakistan followed it's side of the agreement (with the US) to the letter. Pakistan was only ever obliged to provide LOCs and ALOCs, both of which it does for free and in abundunce. Your comment reeks of bullshit, because you have no proper way to make an argument.

You said the figures were made up, and when proven otherwise, you resort to this bullshit comment. At least have the balls to admit when you're wrong.

Exactly you are free to follow your national interests. do not throw wild ones out of the air expecting others to pay that amount

USA is better at cultivating friends and alliances than pakistan

Exactly you are free to follow your national interests. do not throw wild ones out of the air expecting others to pay that amount

USA wasn’t, isn’t and won’t be a friend. Only transactionals “friend”.

If not friendly transaction possible then bullying and sanctions.

That’s all.

My national interests relate to Canada, but let's pretend otherwise for a second.

I gave you actual evidence for those numbers, while all you've done is post ascinine comments that are more troll comments than anything with substance.

If you want to convince someone,or get involved with a topic, bring something with substance, otherwise keep your lips sealed.

You don't know a thing about either 65 or 71. That is very clear now.

FYI Pakistan didn't initiate any of these wars by attack across international border.

71 war was initiated by India by attacking across international border on the night of 20/21 November without formal declaration of war. The whole world remained silent.

you play a double game and you expect others to pay for it
Pakistan provided US with ALOC and GLOC. Handed over 70 percent of AQ leadership...Afghan Taliban were neither terrorists, nor our enemies. We did more than our due part against AQ unlike some EU countries part of ISAF and NATO did like bribing Taliban not to attack them. What the US did in return of our services was to invite our enemy India in Afghanistan to spread it's influence(and support to anti-Pak groups from Afghan soil), heck Bush even made a nuclear deal with India so that they could spare more for nuclear weapons(we just got a pat on back and order to "do more") ---The alleged double game started after that.

Were we expected to get sandwiched between a strong hostile Afghanistan on the West and strong hostile India on the East.
