The United States puts pressure on Pakistan on behest of India on anti-terrorism issues, said Wang Se of Institute of Contemporary International Relationsin an article published in the Global Times on Tuesday.

According to Wang, on anti-terrorism issues, India will continue to ask the US to create pressure on Pakistan.

Actually, the US has responded to India's request by cancelling some security-related aid to Pakistan and adding three Pakistanis with Lashkar-e-Taiba ties to its terror watch list.

But India believes these measures are not enough to ease the chaotic situation in India-controlled Kashmir. But the US has not extricated itself from its dependence on Pakistan in the Afghan issue, so how far it can cater to India's request is worth pondering.

Foreign and defense chiefs of the US and India will meet on Thursday to hold their first ever 2+2 dialogue. The mechanism was agreed upon by US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone in August last year, but will only materialize after being cancelled twice for various reasons in April and July.

Since the US brought the Indo-Pacific strategy into the spotlight, it has been wooing India, hoping New Delhi can become an important pillar to deal with challenges from China.

In its latest National Security Strategy report and National Defense Strategy report, the White House listed India as its important strategic and defense partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

India is very alarmed by China's projection of power in its perceived "sphere" of influence via the Belt and Road initiative. New Delhi has been accusing Beijing of strengthening its rein on Sri Lanka and the Maldives through its "debt trap" diplomacy. Therefore, India and the US have converging interests in counterbalancing China's regional influence.

Nonetheless, India does not want to provoke China on some sensitive issues, especially those which do not touch on India's core interests. In 2017, India rejected Australia's request to join the Malabar naval exercises. It also ruled out participating in joint patrols in the South China Sea proposed by the US.

But the two may contain China's influence by cooperating economically in a third country. Alice Wells, the principal deputy assistant secretary for South and Central Asia of the US State Department, said the US is willing to work with New Delhi on projects outside India and both had partnered in third countries.

As for Pak, like Turkey, there's no turning back!!! Her enemies need to take that out of their mindsets!!! Pak isn't just a country or a state!!!! Like Turkey, she is the manifestation of a Higher Intelligence, a Higher Motivation/Objective etc.!!! When Alparslan reached at the borders of Byzantine or Aybek at Hindustan, they came just not with a force but also an idea!!! And, that idea doesn't die with time!!!! It's a part of the gene pools!!!

Yes, US loves to suck up to India by making Pakistan look bad. Pompeo hopes to sign the 2nd of the three foundational agreements during this visit. By throwing Pakistan under the bus, they are doing Modi's bidding and how great they are for India.

Pakistan is with China, India is not. This should be enough to explain what US is doing.

stupid Chinese author think US care about so called Terrorism (more gangadeshi die while cleaning gutters then in so called Pakistani terrorism in Kashmir)..

The real issue is US want to deny any ally to China in the region and they are trying to arm twist Pakistan. it serve interests of lowly gangadeshis as well.

All those NRI’s in Trumps administration are playing their role. They understand the US governance system, where and how to manipulate power structures just as the Saudis do. The Pakistani state was naive to think America is just the US federal government and state department.

You will lose support for the Cobras and the F-16s. Because instead of proper career diplomats who understand a foriegn country’s power structure, we either have incompetent bumbling political appointees or know-it-all paujis calling the shots.
Most of the “new world order” is still under the US control and they hold the finances Pakistan needs to prosper. They are the consumers for most exports, and control consumption in many third world markets.

Yet, instead of being smart and manipulating the system to their advantage - Pakistanis prefer to shoot themselves in the foot both figuratively and literally

India - 500, Pakistan- 0

The U.S wants to set up india as the monkey against China

It wants Pakistan to drop China, support the U.S strategy across the region and support India against China

None of of which is in Pakistans interest especially anything to do with eastern trash who we hate

The biggest problem is simple OUR ECONOMY
We have finally amongst our political class a desire to put Pakistan first over anybody and push back against endless U.S whining and bitching

Pakistan is a economy ready to take off but its been like this for ages but constrained by worthless corrupt politicians and parties

The U.S knows this, its knows we will need to borrow to go forward and this more than any random physical threat is where they can put pressure on us

So we will indeed push back, we wont simply abandon a good ally in China for a untrustworthy one in U.S snd we definitely wont stop screwing our enemies in Afghanistan or india but we will then need to accept the consequences and take responsibility for our future

If I were a Pak fellow I wouldn't have worried about NRIs! As long as Pak has the motivation to produce JF-17s etc. and audacity to change the system from within she has hope!!! As for controlling the world economy with $ weapons, under the C4I of the NYC/London bankers, Pak isn't alone!!! Hopefully, the victims get together to change the system...

Victims have both lack of cohesion and lack of motivation to change the system.
