US preps midrange missile to pierce China's 'anti-access' shield

Still have free internet (including p0rn), right to demonstrate, and vote in a multi-party system. Call it what you want, it's still more freedom than PRC citizens inside PRC under cult of personality Xi.
Yeah including freedom to vote a greatest U.S leader in the history like Donald Trump. :yahoo:

500km range is hardly a threat to China when China's standard antiship missile has 540km range. not mention 1700km range of DF-21 and 4000km range of DF-26
There is potential use of every type of missile in the battlefield. Range is just one of the metrics.

This missile's specially is long range engagements. But it'll be hard to match China's range on missiles when the vls unit size is smaller on Americans ships.

A standard Japanese meal would be considered a child's portion in China. They say North Koreans starve but I don't think Japanese eat much more.
Japan has the world's highest life expectancy ... I wouldn't make fun of the Japanese health/diet
It's easy to misinterprete what's stated when statements are kept very short. Of course another land war is not going to happen and I wouldn't want it to happen. That chapter has ended.

The scenerio these days does not envolve a continental land war but instead its about sea power. The PRC 9 dash line claim, PRC claim on Taiwan, and the PRC claim on the Senkaku islands is where the conflict points are.

So of course there isn't the "again" that you supposed.
When will Japan invade the Kuril Islands and take them back from the Ruskies

Hah...That was 50 yrs ago. Today, the Viets spanked you, and Taiwan continues to defy you.
US can't defeat a divided vietnam in 20 yrs, while China punished vietnam in less than half a month.
by the way, are you a south vietnamese boat people?

The US military defeated the NVA on the conventional battlefields. Even the NVA admitted it.
LoL, then why there is a "Socialist Republic of Vietnam" now on the earth, in your plane there should be a “Republic of Vietnam”.

It looks the details of the Vietnam War is beyond your intelligence.

For general knowledge:

1. Korea (by and large) was under Japanese occupation in World War II, but split into South and North by 1945 across the 38th Parallel. Allied Powers contemplated unification of Korea but failed to reach an understanding in this matter; South chose to side with USA whereas North chose to side with USSR respectively. North invaded South in 1950 to annex it by force but US-led forces intervened and saved South from annexation, restoring the 38th Parallel by 1951 (victory). However, US-led forces attempted to takeover North as well; this move compelled both China and USSR to intervene (Chinese Army + Soviet Air Force) to save North and succeeded in securing North by 1953 (victory). There was back and forth between the two camps during the course of the Korean War with respective capitals of both South and North succumbing to either for a limited duration but the belligerents settled for the redrawn 38th Parallel in the end (stalemate for all participants).

2. Vietnam was split into South and North in 1955 by the French; South chose to side with French and USA subsequently whereas North was communist and an ally of USSR throughout. USA dispatched its troops to South to prevent its downfall after the defeat of the French in the region. Although, USA could win battles in Vietnam proper (victory in Tet Offensive being most notable) but could not sustain South for indefinite period because American Public was experiencing racial tensions and rejected this intervention by and large. Reagan administration came to power in 1970 and pulled the plug on South in 1973 which in turn fell to North by 1975; Vietnam was a whole again. To some, USA failed in Vietnam. Others disagree and pin the blame on South for lacking in strength to manage itself without foreign aid.

3. Vietnam subjected neighboring Cambodia to occupation in 1978 and regime change in 1979 by extension.

4. China invaded Vietnam in 1979 to pressure the latter to liberate Cambodia but this did not happen (defeat); China won some battles on the ground but retreated from Vietnam - a costly campaign which lasted a month in duration (Vietnamese victory). Many contend that this intervention was a miscalculation and convinced Vietnam proper to reestablish relations with USA.
