US police shoot almost 1,000 people dead every year, figures show
Protests, heightened public awareness, reforms and increased officer training have little effect on annual total

Fatal shootings by police are the rare outcomes of the millions of encounters between police officers and the public. Despite the unpredictable events that lead to the shootings, in each of the past four years police nationwide have shot and killed almost the same number of people - nearly 1,000.

Last year police shot and killed 998 people, 11 more than the 987 they fatally shot in 2017. In 2016, police killed 963 people, and 995 in 2015.

Years of controversial police shootings, protests, heightened public awareness, local police reforms and increased officer training have had little effect on the annual total. Everyone agrees - criminal justice researchers, academics and statisticians - that all of the attention has not been enough to move the number.

Idk why there is so much racism in the west ... i am proud that we don't discriminate people based on their colour in Pakistan ... atleast this is one good thing about us
There isn't much racial mixture in Pakistan which makes you know other races less.

Chinese vocational training centers are "demons", but US bullets are "angles". Which one do you prefer?

Many people here tend to say its the polices fault if they shoot someone. Often the person they shoot is armed, and poses a real or perceived threat.
That can't be an excuse for any killing after they happen, depends on how you term being threatened.

Airguns, weapons, reaching for things while being instructed not to are all things that are threats. If a police sees one of these he should be allowed to kill the person and protect him and his partner.

I see the guy was running away from the police, and the police was shooting multiple times to make sure he would be dead.

He reached for the stun gun, of course your going to get shot when you try to mess with a police officer. He had nothing to defend himself non-lethally with except his gun.

That's how Chinese police dealing with "threats"
You do realize 99% of the time the subject with the weapon is disarmed right? That Chinese officer if he was smart would never had fired anyway considering all the civilians behind the guy with the knife.

Non-lethals like pepper-ball would have easily made his disoriented and able to be arrested without serious incident.
