Pakistan helped America get out of Vietnam & delivered China and kickstarted the ping-pong diplomacy between China and the US. This ultimately weakened the communist bloc. It helped defeat the USSR in Afghanistan. Eliminated & handed 96% of Al Qaida leadership to the US.

Despite all of these, Pakistan is called an untrustworthy ally. Has any US ally ever delivered this much for the US?

As for arrogant ones, I will tell you an incident that happened during the battle of Ohad. At the stage when Muslims were at Backfoot and prophet (pbuh) was also cornered and bruised, there was one companion who took the sword of Prophet (pbuh), wore a red bandana, and walked infront of the kaffirs with mighty arrogance. Prophet looking at that said even though Allah hate arrogance but that walk by the companion at that time infront of Kaffirs was the most beloved act by Allah.

Bottom line is, show compassion to those who deserve it, and treat the arrogants with utter disdain.

You talk of Hazrat abu Dujana who was awarded the sword by Rasool Allah SAW. He strutted around the battle field to show off the honour he had been bestowed as the Prophet SAW had not given his sword to a lot of other people lookong for an appropriate warrior and Abu Dojana RA was just the warrior.He went on to create havoc on that and many other battles
He RA is also the Sahabi along with Wehshi RA who killed the false Prophet and ended one of the biggest fitna in the time of Hazrat Abu bakrRA.

That was only for that moment. Its forgotten now. They dont even remember what we did for them in Afghanistan. Why would they remember 1993 Somalia?

When you are a willing 'gun for hire', you are not given respect anyways. You volunteer for someone else's war for which you got paid. Then dont expect them to sympathize with you. They paid you for this service.

We didnt do that for them but ourselves....why are people oblivious to the facts about why the soviets came to Afghanistanin the first place.....our interests were just entwined with the yanks.

No one is disputing this. The Quran is clear in telling the Mumineen not to take the yahood and Nasaarah as close confidants(clarifying this is not about the normal friendship that should exist between human beings but to take advisors in strategic matters). We defied this directive from the Quran many times. The problem is one of short term personal goals as against long term goals. We got shafted in the 60s, took them on in the 70s and 80s, got embargoed in the 90s and did it again in the 2000s. The west and the world is a matter of short term interests and where these ally they make friends and when they diverge they walk away. We keep thinking of friendships that last forever of which there are few/none. But the fault is as much of our leadership than it is of the west which simply persues its interests. Do not blame them for looking after themselves when we have not looked after our interests. Why was Musharraf so happy to have gotten some petty change?. He should have walked away from it. Everyone flocked to get arms knowing fully well the history of arms acquisition from the US. OUR LEADERSHIP HAS FAILED US rather than the US.
