Those were Surface to Air missiles... IMO article is about air to air missiles ?
Has anything more sophisticated been developed since then? As far as I know, the US army still has this in operational service, and has not planned any replacements for it. They use a more advanced version than the ones used back then.

I was talking about the stinger missile not Apache Block III
I think he was asking which block of the stinger missile we are getting, not apache. The latest AIM-92 is block II.
So the apaches would also be used in air to air role? What exactly does an 8 km range (block 2) missile do to aerial targets, wouldn't aircrafts shoot the apaches down from much longer distances before they come anywhere within 8 kms of the apaches?
