Sure...Testing for the short answer. The long answer is classified. What people do not understand outside of their childish need to mock US is that the F-22 and F-35 are more than just fighting machines. They are ALSO intelligence gathering platforms that are beyond what the Russians and the Chinese have. If the ignorant yahoos in this thread goes on about Afghanistan have nothing to contribute to 'intel', then we are more than happy to keep them ignorant.

Multiple reasons, real combat experience for pilots, US already has the best trained military in the world, but no amount of training prepares you better than an actual combat zone to deal with intense situations.

Another reason, integration and testing of new bombs, same reason Su-57 had a short term deployment to Syria.
