Yes .. unmanned weaponised ships with the addition of the UUV (Unmanned underwater vehicles ) the next gen’ ‘intelligent’ marine robots...we know that the powers that be all have these developed....now they’re in a mad bid for dominance.

LCS is such a waste of Money. The US Navy should just buy the Type 26 Frigate in large enough numbers to fill all its mid-tier requirements (40-50 ships) and built it in the US. Trade this for giving US companies some major contract in the UK, as well as contracts for US companies in the energy market (LNG and all kinds of power plants). The UK could also cut out Huawei and give the deal to a US Company.

Stealth can be achieved only against submarines, not against aerial surveillance like P8I, Dornier based surveillance etc. Aerial surveillance can easily find any stealth ship.

Zumwalt class destroyer has a much smaller rcs than any warship but it is/was an exceedingly ambitious project with futuristic technologies and capabilities in mind. No wonder the costs ballooned and a fleet is not longer feasible to field.

Nevertheless, Zumwalt class destroyers (3 in total) are being slowly converted into "assassins of the sea" with an impressive suite of armaments (some of which will be a game-changer). Besides being legitimately stealthy, these destroyers are able to cope with stormy conditions better than any other surface combatant out there - another advantage for the class. These destroyers are expected to live up to their hype in the near future but will not be mass produced*.

*USN is substituting Zumwalt class with Arleigh Burke Flight III class for mass-production.

It is a good base platform for future technologies. It is very overpowered and compact so can easily incorporate Rail Guns and High energy laser systems.

What i am thinking is they have tested and they didn't liked. Like the stealthy Commanche helicopter it didn't worked out, a vertically standing shape is can not really stealthy like horizontal shape example fighter jets. Limited characterictis so they stop with the expensive projects.

Zumwalt will end the same.

US govt lost at least $30bn from Zumwalt because it either had flaw in the design or it doesnt work...not sure..southfront did analysis of it. painful to see so much money THIS COUNTRY NEEDS being wasted..only military equipment....to fight countries we cant defeat anymore...smfh

These Projects keep private defense sector running so are deemed acceptable. Either this or let the supply chain established for defence sector wither away.

I think there were news that Saudi Arabia is looking to buy 4 LCS, maybe that is the reason they are retiring? So the US Navy can sell them to Saudi Arabia?
