US 'may ease' export restrictions against Myanmar and Vietnam

. .
Vietnam has no demand to build or purchase a carrier.
For protect our sea and islands, our land body is the most huge carrier to launch as many as aircrafts or missiles as -670 demanded. There're several ports and airports along the east coasts provide the operational range from 300-600km to Paracels and Spratly's ...

I wasn't the one that brought it up, I never said Vietnam needed a carrier, if you want you can go over my posts in the beginning. It was Viet that first suggested carriers, forgot what it was about, but it was him.

Liaoning's hull was built by USSR, but everything else is China.

While India got everything built by USSR/Russia.

The most important is Indian pilot and personnel ... now they could apply their long time experience in operating carrier onto the new carrier ...

In contrary, Japan could build the carrier anytime and as many as they want .
They have rich experience in that ...

And China is giving them the CAUSE to recover the military arming which fading for 2nd half of 20th century.

I will not think the current situation as China raising but Japan raising ...

India's past aircraft carrier only had the vertical takeoff aircrafts, so they don't have much experience with the ski-jump takeoff and arresting gear landing either.

China explores everything by itself, while India needs Russia to teach her how to conduct the takeoff and landing by hooking with the arresting gear step by step.

Whether or not that's true remains to be seen, but this is the first time India will operate a carrier like this.

Japan has experience, if they want to build a WW2 relic. Times have changed. Didn't one of your members show some Vietnamese gun in this or some other thread, is Vietnamese going to call on that experience?

Also Japan didn't fade, they were beaten to a pulp and told to never militarize again by the US.

If Current China isn't rising, but in fact it is Japan, then Vietnam would also be considered rising instead of China, what with less numbers and lack of high tech or in Japans case, even offensive weaponry.

I doubt about Ukraine hands on those "everything".
China has no choice, while India could save time because of the strong support from Russia.

Mig 29ubk bring more while less weight and space than Su 33

It was firstly done by the Russian pilots, then passed the skill to the Indian pilots.

While China got no one's help, and right now the Chinese pilots have already flied aboard Liaoning countless times.

The first pilot to perform the takeoff and landing on Liaoning was a Chinese pilot.

While the first pilot to perform the takeoff and landing on Vikramaditya was a Russian pilot.

Nuff to say.

Except USA, who has now commissioned more than 2 carriers so far?

As I said, China has no choice, while India has ... and they choose learning from experts for saving time.

Also I get the reports that there're some damages for China to self-studied of landing

That's why an independent student usually performs much better than a dependent student.

India can buy everything they want, while China has to make its own.

But for the same reason, China is now many decades ahead of India when it comes to the military technology.

Because India is too dependent on the foreign military technology, which has in fact hindered the development its indigenous military technology.

So the Chinese pilot landing better than Indian pilot does ?
How about the experience for Chinese pilot to take off / land vertical ?

F35 will be armed in Japan carrier , US, Korea, ...

Is Liaoning and the copy of it NEW ?

We don't need the vertical takeoff/landing aircraft.

While the future of F-35B is uncertain right now.

Of course, we have better takeoff/landing skill than India right now, since we used to explore everything by ourselves, while India always needs to be babysit by Russia.

Right now, the Chinese pilots have performed the takeoff/landing far more than the Indian pilots.

I saw the Mig 29 UBK landing in the darkness onto Indian carrier, that's not so bad for them ...

For Vietnam, we are waiting for some fund from USA, satellites, P3C Orion, coastguard ships, joint-training, and nuclear technology , equipment and materials.

Recent years, American key companies made big extra investment in Vietnam, like GE ...

They have experience in building WW2 era carriers which only carry piston engine and not jet fighters. Even some third world countries have the capability to build those carriers.

And anyway, we know the real reason America wants to ease export restrictions is because they want money flowing into America from all the arms sales, not because they really care about upgrading these countries militaries to face any threat.

Japan also wants to make big money, this is all about cash.

US 'may ease' export restrictions against Myanmar and Vietnam if human rights concerns are addressed

Jon Grevatt, Bangkok - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
23 February 2014

The United States' efforts to expand security relationships across the Asia-Pacific could lead to Washington easing long-standing arms embargoes on Myanmar and Vietnam, Kenneth Handelman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Defense Trade Controls in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs has told IHS Jane's .

At present, Handelman said, military sales to both Myanmar and Vietnam are unlikely but could be possible in the future should both countries move to address issues such as human rights concerns.

In 2013 the US and the EU both eased trade and investment restrictions on Myanmar in light of its efforts towards political reform.

That is clearly a hint for Vietnam.

America and Vietnam can work out a solution so that both sides can save face...and voilà, moderrn destroyers, submarines and stealth fighter jets can be bought from Uncle Sam. :-)

Here's the catch. When you start using US technology, you're still not safe from their spy program. In fact, they can even disable your jet from the sky. Start developing your own weapon and technology. Stop being so dependent.

why not? Vietnam has ambitions. :D
the more customers for F-35, the cheaper per piece. very simple. Theoretically we can start to buy with $50m.

F-35 is garbage without the F-22 but you're still relying on American technology. Build our own is safer.

I don´t remember the jet name, the one stealth fighter variant you have under development...ist it J-? or something?
sooner or later...we need some similar toy to counter the threat.

The most modern jet Vietnam has to date is SU-30MK2 that we pay $37m a piece.

I am not a Vietcong, You idiot!

Why pay for something retarded amount of money when those money can be spent within the country to promote jobs and standard of living? Not only the technology will become obsolete in the future but also it is built by another country that consistently monitors its allies to gather information.
