King Salman: We do not take (mix) the Iranian people with the crimes of its regime
Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, who was speaking at the opening of the Arab-American Islamic Conference hosted by President Donald Rumsfeld, said that the countries participating in the summit are an important partner in combating extremism and terrorism.
King Salman said: We will cooperate in the elimination of terrorism in all its forms and forms, stressing that the Islamic religion was and will remain a religion of mercy and coexistence and peace, stressing that some of the members of Islam distort religion.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques added that President Trump's participation in the summit shows Washington's interest in the region.
"We reject and condemn the classification of peoples on religious or sectarian grounds," he said. "The Iranian regime, Hezbollah, the Houthis, Da'ad and al Qaeda are similar. We do not take the Iranian people with the crimes of its regime. He added that the Iranian regime has been the spearhead of terrorism since the revolution of Khomeini until today.
King Salman said: "We confirm our resolve to eliminate the oppressor and all terrorist organizations."
Earlier, Saudi King Abdullah II welcomed participants to the Arab-American Islamic Summit.
King Salman said on Twitter: "I welcome the participants in the Arab-Islamic summit."
"The prospects for the Riyadh Summit will be positive for the region and the world, and will strengthen our alliance against extremism and terrorism."
