Recently someone stated ( i forgot the the person and the paper) that the number of Pakistan Army officers going to USA for training has decreased significantly after kargil War, this decrease has resulted in reduction of US influence on Pakistan army, because there are very few officer in top brass who has been through the trainings in USA. Can any one shed some light on it, and moreover how many of our present Top Brass has been trained in US.

"International Military Student participation in cooperative military studies in the United States originated at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, with the arrival of Swiss Lieutenant Henri Le Comte in 1894. Since then, International Militart Students have become an integral part of the "Fort Leavenworth Experience" with more than 7,000 international officers studying alongside their US Army, Sister Service, and US Interagency counterparts. These talented military officers and their families so far have represented 153 countries to date. Their have been a total of 230 International Hall of fame Inductees. Each of these officers distinguished himself, having attained through merit appointment, the position of Chief of Army or higher in his home country. For Pakistan, there have been 123 intelligent officers who have been trained at USACGSC, 73 of them have been the Generals and 4 of them have been the Chief of Army Staff and International Hall of Fame inductees.

Kayani, Musharaf, Aslam Baig and Jhangir Karamat were all trained here in US Kansas. Each year, they choose one Major from Pakistan army to come here and get the training ( Yes brain washing is considered as a part of military training). This is interesting to note that out of 123 officers, 73 of them have gone to become Generals. This also tells you, in recent years who make the decision of the promotion in Pakistan army and who appoint the army chief in Pakistan. "
