This contributes to US foreign policy objectives and national security goals??? Really? This is total and unadulterated bullsh1t by the Obama administration. The truth is that Americans need jobs and Obama is desperate to provide it. The Lockheed Martin F-16 assembly line was on the verge of closure which would have resulted in major job losses. So as a face saver, he's hanging on with keeping the lines open for at least 8 F-16s ie, the time by when his term ends.

Most of the old fleet of PAF F-16 already upgraded or being upgraded in Turkey.

They were upgraded to to MLU standards not f16 V standards. The f16 V is the latest more advanced package then our block 52 plus and block 60. Singapore Airforce has been ordered f16V kits for their entire fleet.

Thanks US with further more cooperation we can make this region more stable and peaceful. Pakistan and US needs to resolve some issues and we can be back on good track. Pakistan should also pursue good relations with Russia. Follow up order should not be less than 36 F16V or F16 Block 60

Why didn't US offer 16 or 24 F-16s? 8 F-16s Block 52+ is mot viably political option available, especially since US footing most of the bill. Pakistan-US relations are not that great US would offer you more. May be in the future, but not today.

We already have 18 of block 52 + in our fleet the new 8 will be part of that squadron with an option of 10 more...if required we will avail 10 more same block jets.

8 F-16s being built will really guarantee long term jobs for the american public.
