The Moldovan Mi-8 helicopter, which was seriously damaged in Afghanistan on Jan. 26, was attacked on the ground, and not during the flight, the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority said.

According to a report, a grenade launched from an RPG grenade launcher hit a helicopter on the ground. The incident occurred in the village of Kayaki, in the Afghan province of Helmand. The helicopter carried out a humanitarian mission to transport food.

There were three crew members on board. As a result, the crew commander and mechanical engineer, both Ukrainian citizens, were slightly injured. The co-pilot, a Moldovan citizen, was not injured. All crew members boarded another Moldovan helicopter with the Moldovan crew
