US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells says she was inspired by the award-winning Pakistani female peacekeepers serving in war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

“Inspired by Pakistani women serving with distinction in the UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC,” said a tweet shared on Wells behalf by the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs on Wednesday.

The US diplomat, in her tweet, commended the first Pakistani all-female group of 15 peacekeepers, who received medals last week for their work performing a range of services to the conflict-affected eastern DRC.

Earlier this month, Pakistan’s female peacekeepers, deployed with the United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), were awarded a UN medal at a ceremony in Adikivu in South Kivu, one of the provinces of the central African country.

The team of 15 female officers, who serve at the ranks of major and captain, have been stationed in the war-torn country since June last year.

The officers are psychologists, stress counsellors, vocational training officers, gender advisors, doctors, nurses, operations officers, information officers and logistics officers.

Pakistan has a long history of sending its troops to various UN peacekeeping missions and has also been recognised as one of the largest contributors of troops and police for decades.

According to the UN, Pakistani troops are currently serving in seven UN operations, with the vast majority of them deployed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Darfur region of Sudan and the Central African Republic.

Forget Alice two-face Wells, this news is about female Pakistani peacekeepers being awarded for their efforts abroad.

I didn't know we had female peacekeepers - but we do. They do all of the below roles.

It was in news a few days ago, if it had been just about their achievement than I would celebrate, and I did feel happy.
but in this news, it is about Alice Wells and her benevolence praise as if she is an angel, so sorry it is hard to forget her if she is being represented like this.

Congratulations to Pakistani womanhood, I hope they go on to play a much bigger and stronger role in our society.

Alice is a diplomat this shows US desire to have good relationship with Pak and Army. She never debunk Pak but disagreement on issue is normal among friends.

Friends?? That is the last word that should be used for the relations between America and Pakistan.

This friend gave India nearly 1 billion dollars worth of military hardware during its 1962 war with China, India went begging to America and the UK and they obliged. Only a year before Kennedy had promised president Ayub that he would not supply any weapons to India without discussing with Pakistan first, it was a promise. Pakistan was a strong ally at the time, with the membership of SEATO AND CENTO.

Then, it sanctioned Pakistan during our war with India in 1965 and those sanctions remained till 1980. India conducted a nuclear test in 1974 but Pakistan was sanctioned not India. In fact, America went onto supply heavy water to India in that same year, you need heavy water to operate nuclear reactors.

Again America sanctioned Pakistan in 1990 till 2001, and after having trained tens of thousands of mujaheddin, this so-called friend left us to deal with them, while under sanctions, I almost forgot the nearly 4-5 million Afghan refugees this friend left us with.

So, that's 25 years of sanctions from this dear old friend of yours/ours. Plus this dear friend has given many more billions of dollars of aid money to India then it ever did to Pakistan.

What's that old saying?

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE, WHO NEEDS ENEMIES.

DARN IT, WE ALREADY HAVE TWO ENEMIES, on one side India, on the other Afghanistan.

There is no friendship. The Americans like to suck up from time to time.

Let there be absolutely no mistake. The US is not an ally nor a friend of Pakistan. It is only interested in containing Pakistan for a handful of reasons. That is it.

I'm a Pakistani born Canadian. Everytime i go back home i hate the Airport, Immigration staff. They act like we are about to enter another planet or something very prestige.. I mean come on who would come to a 3rd world country with a fake visa? On a passport from 1st world country? With a Muslim name, very Pakistani looking.. n the Canadian Passport saying born in Pakistan!! It's less hassle going to U.S then it is to Pakistan..

Seriously need to turn that down a notch.. n use technology to verify people rather then interrogation.
