US embassy photo, tweet about civil war anger Sri Lanka military

Members of the Federation of National Organization (FNO) gather in front of the US Embassy during a protest in Colombo January 9, 2014. The protesters are demonstrating against a visit by US Ambassador-at-Large, Office of Global Criminal Justice, Stephen J. Rapp who will be in Sri Lanka till January 11.

COLOMBO (REUTERS) - The US embassy in Colombo posted a photograph on Twitter on Thursday which it said showed a site where the Sri Lankan army killed hundreds of families towards the end of the civil war in 2009, prompting an angry response from the military.

The final few months of the 26-year conflict were by far the bloodiest, and the government and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels blame each other for the deaths of tens of thousands of mainly Tamil civilians.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa's government, which ended the war in May 2009 by crushing the rebellion, is sensitive to criticism at a time of growing international pressure to investigate allegations of war crimes by the armed forces.

The United Nations has called on Sri Lanka to punish those in the military who were involved in atrocities, and a summit of Commonwealth leaders in the capital Colombo in November was overshadowed by the dispute

in case you were missing the point, a structural genocide Tamils is no excuse for tackling "insurgencies' and you need to get you definition of "insurgencies" right !

1) There was nothing structural about it. I've taken classes for Srilankan Officers coming to Pakistan for courses and have a firm grasp over the Tamil Insurgency.

2) Maybe you can tell me the 'definition' of Insurgency.

1) your source of information - Lankan military is biased
2) insurgencies - check it out with Kashmiri jihadists fighting the Indian occupation
3) Killing of over 40,000 - 70,000 Tamil civilian, by gathering them into the 'No Fire Zone' within a single month , apart from denying them food and medical supplies (stopping UN relief operation etc) is war crime, genocide and under international convention enough justification for formation of a separate country (refer Bosnia genocide)
4) Sri Lanka Army should tell US embassy , all the killing was part of tackling "insurgencies" and top whining

if normal educated/religious Sinhala Buddhists express such anger against the US embassy, imagine what they are capable of doing to Tamils living under their terrorism

The 2 communities have been after each others' blood for more than 1000 yrs, the only solution is 2 separate countries,

US embassy photos that irked the Sri Lankan military

United States envoy’s meet up with Ananthi, Tamil activist cum Provincial member has shocked Srilankan government and increased the fear that war crimes investigation is imminent on Srilankan forces.

You make your own separate country somewhere else, not in Sri Lanka. What the hell. What can we do if you beggars don't have your own nation.

Can you apply all these to what USA has done in Iraq and Afghanistan ?
Also not to mention about Syria , Libya, etc?
Also what about red-indians Native Americans ?

Then first create Khalistan.

Tough calls need to be made when tackling insurgencies. The Sri Lankan Army did a good job.
So you support the drone strikes in Pakistan and would also support a full was in the tribal belt of Pakistan between the Taliban ans the Pak army even if it means hundreds and thousands of innocent civilians will get killed just because they had their homes in the region
