because china is really cheap to travel. US is on the top because US is expensive, you send $8 on a burger, while in china a burger cost $1. That's 8x already for purchasing the same thing. Foreign spending is higher in the US reflects exactly that, people may actually purchase more items in China, but is not reflected in dollar amount.

Thailand is way expensive than China, it's a mecca for white European and Americans. Some of the beaches and resorts there cost at 70% or 80% or just as much as Hawaii and are filled with white people.

I think it’s more of a Mecca for China..if Chinese tourists aren’t on the beach maybe they are in the not-so-nice areas Thailand is known for.

it's definitely top Asian destinations for Europeans. China (even including Hong Kong) is the same as the Thailand.
