US drone kills four militants in Pakistan

Islamabad: A US drone targeted a vehicle in the south Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan on Saturday, killing four militants in the latest in a string of attacks by the CIA-operated spy planes.

The drone struck in Khwashi Khel village, a short distance from Wana, the main town in South Waziristan Agency, TV news channels quoted officials as saying. There have been six drone strikes since May 23.

Most of the strikes have been carried out in North Waziristan Agency, described by US and Afghan officials as a safe haven for Taliban and al Qaeda elements.

The US stepped up drone strikes shortly after the conclusion of the NATO Summit in Chicago, where Pakistan did not make any announcement about ending a six-month blockade of supply routes to Afghanistan.

The supply lines were shut after a cross-border NATO air strike killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in November last year.

The drone strikes have added to tensions between the US and Pakistan, which has described the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty and called for them to be stopped.

The US had eased its drone campaign in Pakistan's tribal areas after a CIA contractor was arrested for shooting and killing two Pakistani men in Lahore early last year and the unilateral American raid that killed Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad in May last year.

US drone kills four militants in Pakistan

this will continue as long as the PA doesn't act against the militants them selfs.
by the way there is no way the US would carry out the strikes without the govt approval .

United States will not stop drone attacks, Obama even before assuming office president of United States, He supported Unilateral Strikes in pakistan even when he was a Senator, He firmly believed that United States and Pakistan has different trajectories in Afghanistan.

Another day for the ababeels in office ; another day of violation of sovereignty, and another group of jihadists despatched to the other world. All hail to the next greatest invention since the wheel !!!

You have already declared the verdict on those 'alleged terrorists', they get no legal defense, they are not even tried in courts and they are not necessarily 'militants' or 'terrorists'. It's just the words of a super power, a power that can declare anybody a terrorist and execute him/her. Basically this is punishment for blocking of NATO supply routes. And ofcourse the tribals living there are eventually growing tired of their government and their military for not defending them. It's growing to be a '71 kinda situation slow and steady in Baluchistan and N/S. Waziristan.

What's the point of a government and a military or even a country if they do not defend you, should one be loyal to the country if the country does not provide protection to you and your children, parents, family, relatives etc.? So when these desperate survivors take revenge upon Pakistan through suicide bombings and all for the murder of their children/parents/family etc., now I wonder if they are wrong at all!

To give them opportunity to get justice, we need boots on the ground, are you willing to send the army in? How else they can get tried?

When you put it that way, it does sound suspect, does anybody really know whether they are terrorists or just plain civilians. Civilians too carry guns in Pakistan right? Does any agency release names and details of people killed in drone strikes? On the other hand you must blame your own authority for these strikes and no one else.

Civilians should not be allowed to keep automatic guns anywhere, it adds to problem.

Ofcourse we would send in the military if the local jirgas are unable to implement their law, which is authorized by Pakistan, but only if we considered the area to be terrorists safe havens. Even then I have to say that military courts are not the answer for civilians. And at times it may just not be possible to find enough proof against a known terrorist for a conviction in which case, only in certain extreme cases, the military may sanction termination.

But our basic dispute here is that we do not consider these guys to be terrorists or militants just because the US declares them so. We know for a fact that RAW arms and trains BLA terrorists and TTP terrorists against anti Pakistan activities but we do not carry out aerial attacks on those Indian terrorist training camps, we'd much rather solve the issue peacefully with dialogues to end militancy in each others country mutually.

My point here is that the CIA is carrying out these attacks because:

1) Pakistan is unwilling to challenge them militarily.
2) Pakistan is unable to prevent them diplomatically.

Now if we consider point 2, I guess we have tried the best we could have with the current incompetent Government. Point 1, I wonder when the military and higher ups would say enough is enough, when the CIA starts drone strikes in Karachi after strikes in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Quetta? There has to be red line somewhere.

What a joke, militants. After the revelation that the US officials just call all adults killed as militants this is totally ridiculous and all people reporting them as militants are betraying their profession as a journalist.

The more these drone attacks happen, the more militants will get angry and produce more militias. Reason? Its cuz the U.S is a foreign aggressor.

Everyone that killed get labeled "A Militant". It is so sad to see humanity dyeing.

in other news their are 10 killed in south waziristan is it the same attack or another one?

Agreed but what is you country doing to rehabilitate this people. A few drops of poison in a milk tank is not milk.

US drone kills 10 militants in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: At least 10 suspected militants, including two key commanders, were killed Sunday when a US drone fired missiles at a hideout in Pakistan's northwest tribal region, media reports said.

The drones targeted a house and a vehicle in Wacha Dana town, 10 km from Wana, the main town of South Waziristan along the Afghan border, Dawn News reported.

Two US drones fired four missiles at the house belonging to a suspected militant commander. At the time of the attack, militants had gathered to offer condolences to the brother of a militant commander killed during a drone attack a day ago.

However, Geo News said five militants were killed and three others injured. The house was completely razed to the ground.

Sources said there were still four drones hovering over the area.

According to Xinhua, witnesses said two drones first fired two missiles at a house followed by two missiles at a car.

This was the 19th drone strike this year, in which at least 129 people have been killed.

On Saturday, four people including two militant commanders were killed when two drones attacked a house in Wana.

Pakistan has been protesting over such attacks by the US drones, terming them as violation of its sovereignty.
