LAHORE - Father of Pakistan nuclear programme, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said that US drones can be shot down with Hamza missile.
While addressing the lawyers of Lahore bar, the nuclear scientist said that Pakistan was full of natural resources but the leaders had no good motive.
He said that Pakistan had drone technology.
Dr AQ Khan said that if Pakistan can produce an atomic weapon, then it was not difficult to end its energy crisis.
“The prime minister should have been disqualified when convicted,” he said.

Doesn't he mean 'ANZA'? What missile system is HAMZA? I was also wondering how ANZA MKIII can shoot down US Predator/Reaper drones especially since Reaper has an operational altitude of 7,500m where as ANZA MKIII has a range of 3,500m.

what hamza? we have Infantry Fighting Vehicle 'Al-Hamza maade in pakistan

ya..........but one needs balls to do that ............!!

its a fact tht even PAF can destroy drones within clicks, but again when Pak Govt also wants drones against militants than PAF cannt do nything.

Hamza missile? Is this new kind of missile or slip of tongue?

Anza mark III has a range of 6000m and can be fired from High terrain and has a capability to bring down UAV and Aircraft.

QW-2 SHOULDER-LAUNCHED AIR-DEFENCE MISSILE (Pakistan Anza MK III )

The QianWei-2 (QW-2) is China’s third indigenous shoulder-launched air-defence missile. First revealed in 1998, the missile is based on the rocket motor of the QW-1, but its launcher and the missile bare strong resemblance to the Russian 9K310 Igla-1 (NATO codename: SA-16 Gimlet). The successful development of the QW-2 indicated that China is catching up with Russia in the field of man-portable air-defence system (MANPADS) design, though it still falls behind the U.S. and Europe.

The QW-2 entered service with the PLA in the late 1990s in the form of the Type 95 self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery/surface-to-air missile (SPAAA/SAM) system. There is no man-portable version of the missile in service with the PLA.

SPECIFICATIONS

System length: 1.590m
System weight: 18kg
Missile length: 1.423m
Missile diameter: 0.072m
Missile weight: 11.32kg
Propulsion: Single-stage solid rocket
Operating altitude: 0.01 ~ 3.5km
Operating range: 0.5~6km
Maximum speed: 600m/s
Guidance: Infrared
Warhead: 0.57kg

The QW-2 is an advanced shoulder-launched air-defence missile system developed from the QW-1 but upgraded with the Russian 9K310 Igla-1 (SA-16 Gimlet) technology.

There is no man-portable version of the QW-2 in PLA service. The missile has been deployed in small numbers in the form of Type 95 self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery/surface-to-air missile (SPAAA/SAM) system.

in ke adat he dosrey k ....... par ochalny ke. jab be koi bat ho drone strike ke zror bat hoti hai.

AQ Khan needs to get his head examined. There is no such thing as a 'HAMZA' missile. It is ANZA!

Secondly, ANZA Mk1,2 and 3 is a series of shoulder-fired, man-portable surface-to-air missiles guided by an infra-red homing seeker. Anza is used for low level air defence.

Even the Anza Mk-III, which is based on the Chinese QW-2 MANPADS, has a minimum altitude of 10 m which gives it the capability to attack very low flying helicopters and cruise missiles. The max altitude is 3,500 m.

In contrast, the MQ-1 Predator drone's operational altitude is 26,000-30,000ft (8000m to 9000m). The ANZA is nowhere near it!

Further, Predators are all weather platforms. The ANZA is IR homing and therefore susceptible to adverse weather conditions.

What an ignorant nuclear scientist!! I think AQ Khan has finally lost his marbles! :cheesy:

He has lost his marbles since some time. Making really weird statements.

Its a question of tracking drones...

attacking with man portable missiles is absurd.

Unless he disclosed something that he should not have? I mean, perhaps there is an Anza IV or Anza V.....named 'Hamza' or perhaps Hamza is some other classified weapon? You can call this guy whatever you want but you cannot challenge his level of information.
