US diplomat's car crushes Pakistani to death.
By Indo Asian News Service | IANS – 20 minutes ago

Islamabad, Feb 15 (IANS) One person died and another was injured when a US embassy vehicle knocked them down in Islamabad, the embassy confirmed Friday in a statement
Two Pakistanis, riding a motorbike, were hit by the speeding car of an American diplomat in Islamabad late Thursday night, leaving both of them injured, reported Xinhua citing witnesses.
One later died in hospital and the other was undergoing treatment, police and doctors said.
The dead man's family has registered a case with the police against the diplomat. However, the diplomat has been released as he enjoys diplomatic immunity.
The US embassy confirmed the accident and said that an accredited US diplomat was involved in a road accident at about 9.30 p.m. Thursday in the vicinity of Margalla Road and Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.
"The embassy employee's vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying two Pakistani citizens, injuring both men," the statement said.
The statement said the US diplomat, who also sustained minor injuries, was treated, and released.
"We have and will continue to cooperate fully with the appropriate Pakistani authorities on the investigation, and are working through our local insurance company to address financial questions or concerns," the statement said.

How many diplomats US have in Pakistan?

Had the diplomat.. identified himself at the crime scene ? if not than there is no point in believing it was diplomat.

It could be another black water operative.

. . .
It was a road accident. Could have happened to a Pakistani car also.
Mind you I am not condoning the accident but we must realise it was at the end of the day an accident only
RIP to the dead.

This is abuse of diplomatic immunity and strong protoest and fine should be imposed and a case of murder should be lodged in washington
the US EMBASSY in Pakistan is center of CIA headquarter and center of terrorism, their activities should be restricted and properly monitored and this is also big threat to our country

How you know more about the episode rather than the locals?

What do you suggest shall be the end to it? Shall no police report be made? Shall no challan be issued? shall no judiciary be involved?

What diplomatic immunity?

Pakistani ambassador in Tehran attacked

Here is a quote from Iranian forum:

WORLD Peace is directly associated with the destruction of ISLAMabad and Riyadh!!GOD of Babylon is continuously trying to uproot, shake and jolt Islamabad Aewan by a magnitude of 5.8 , every now and then.

ISLAMabad's Coward Talenabi Generals who have done a peace deal with SWAT Taleban can't sleep in their palaces due to cracks appearing overhead.

The sooner the ISLAMabad goes into ruins of Moe-in-jo-Darro and Harrapa, the better it will be.

This is abuse of diplomatic immunity -
No, it is not; this is precisely the sort of thing diplomatic immunity is meant for.

and strong protoest and fine should be imposed and a case of murder should be lodged in washington
Yes, it's possible to blame the country, but you can't sanction the diplomat, save to kick him out of Pakistan. If the diplomat was inebriated, for example, then the U.S. can be blamed for letting a diplomat drive in that state of mind. But no, a traffic accident is not itself proof of murder, indeed murder (i.e., premeditated manslaughter) is rarely suspected in such cases, nor is it likely to be proved as such in court without considerable evidence, rather than the vapors that fuel the rumor mills in Pakistan.

...the US EMBASSY in Pakistan is center of CIA headquarter and center of terrorism -
And now you're in Loo-Loo Land.

Miraculously (and for a change) Mr Cohen Solomoneister is actually correct here

Reducing traffic accidents

By Letter Published: November 28, 2012

LAHORE: Around the world, road crashes claim over 1.3 million lives every year. In Pakistan, about 10,000 persons die each year due to traffic accidents. The cost of road accidents in Pakistan in terms of cumulative damages is around one billion dollars a year. A staggering 39 per cent of all traffic accidents in Pakistan cause fatalities, 42 per cent cause serious injury, 11 per cent cause minor injury and in eight per cent of accidents, there is only vehicular damage.

The incidence of traffic accidents can only be reduced if an attempt is made to understand their causes. First, there needs to be properly designed roads and even traffic signs. If either of these is not up to standard, it could be cause for a traffic accident. Of course, the primary reason for traffic accidents is fast and rash driving but that can be checked by vigilant policing. In addition to that, vehicles need to meet the necessary international fitness and road safety standards.

Thought also needs to be given to protecting the infrastructure that one finds along roads, since it can be prone to accidents. In this context, in Pakistan, encroachments and illegal structures along roads must be removed without delay.

Drivers should be punished on a system based on points where beyond a certain number of violations, they lose their licence to drive for a fixed period of time. As for the traffic police, they need to be trained better and should be efficient at not only managing the flow of traffic but also in fining those who break traffic laws.

There is also a dire need for a system where there is prompt reporting of traffic accidents so that emergency services can reach in as short a time as possible. An audit of road safety measures would also help because it will plug weaknesses in the system.

Islamabad is a twilight zone. Things are extremely orderly there traffic included. Diplomat was probably just drunk or was too stupid to be able to handle a car properly

.
Seeing how mopeds were driven in Egypt (I assume Pakistanis aren't much more careful)....it's a wonder this doesn't happen more often. RIP to the dead.

.
that is sad. may his should rest in peace. Govt should take actions appropriately

.
