US deploying forces in Indian Ocean to take on China: Yechury

i dont think india would approve of this..of course, it is US's prerogative anyway...but traditionally the IOR has been the hegemony of the indian navy

That depends on how long you measure that tradition. In the last 60 years, US navy maintain peace in IOR in addition to pacific and atlantic.

. .
Nah we Chinese are welcome US navy in Indian Ocean:tup:..conjecture or not, if American use China as excuse to be present in Indian Ocean..that's perfectly fine with us :azn:..

They already have a base in IOR which they leased/bought from UK in exchange for the trident missile. They already have bombers stationed there which they use to bomb Iraq and Afghanistan.

No problemo...they can bring more...the more the better on this region...we have nothing more to lose :smokin:

A slight modification. Beyond that 12 miles, it is EEZ upto 200 miles....and innocent passage is allowed in EEZ.

Beyond that it is international waters.

The point is we cannot dictate the terms in International waters. Any country can delpoy its warships close to US waters...(If they really have guts to do so) ;)

You are right about the EEZ part, but not about the deployment of warships. Deploying warships is not considered "innocent passage". Any country will be fully within its rights to attack a warship if it came that close.

I see Indian members are happy with the development/ or this news but many decades back when India was not goody goody with US, the presence of Americans in Indian Ocean was more terrifying for the Indians than presence of Chinese.

The moral of the story : US presence = weakening of Indian presence

Your moral of the story is wrong, Americans already have a base in Diego Garcia. Unlike China, US don't have any border dispute with India.

They are just behind your house and yes I can see a lot of pain in that statement.

LOL they're just in front of your house :azn: It's closer to your than mine ...we will swallow any pain of joy.

The moral of story is: Keep dreaming of "India Ocean is India's Ocean" as those who think India's great game in Indian Ocean...your game is over:angel:.

India is in no position to disallow US or other ships in IOR... even the Chinese can come...

while PLAN will be completely decimated in a war with IN in IOR... same cannot be said of US Navy..

Right now the strong US naval presence is a threat to China as India and US seem to have common interest in the region...

but the fact remains that both China and India are in no position to dictate terms to US Navy.. at the same time the current US Naval presence is a threat to China and not to India.

if India picks up a dispute with US in IOR it will be bad for India, India needs another 2 decades at least to be able to ensure that even in an unlikely scenario of US India conflict IN is able to prevail over USN...

.
Agartala, Sep 1 (IANS) The US government has decided to deploy over half of its naval fleet in the Indian Ocean and South China Sea to take on China, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury said here Saturday.

Geographically - challenged barking dog.

Leon Panetta: US to deploy 60% of navy fleet to Pacific

Fool doesn' tknow the difference between Pacific and IOR.

Besides, US already has a base in IOR.

.
I heard USA is deploying its assets in COCOS(not COCO of Mayanmar) islands..any more update on that???and also,is USA is gradually increasing its fleet in Diego Garcia(I thought they are going to decrease it)??there are also possibilities to deploy these in Singapore, right??

No you don’t have any position to dis-allow USN but you’re allowed to keep your first dream as Indian Ocean as Indian’s Ocean :lol:and second dream to be able decimating PLAN in IOR:lol:...and the third dream that American turn their full attention toward Chinese and threatening each-other so India will have a free hands on Indian Ocean....these are wonderful dreams .

It’s so funny that people still label US Naval presence is a threat to China and not to India in Indian Ocean...you Indian sure know how to endure the inner pain...but that’s fine with China because it won’t make any different...and keep your 4th dream to challenge USN in two decades with your military import from US:rofl:...

for you chinese dreams of SCS with love from US:
BBC News - Leon Panetta: US to deploy 60% of navy fleet to Pacific

India decimating PLAN in IOR is a reality you cant do much about.

India dont need to challenge USN now (and cant challenge also) and it is good that the USN is a big threat to PLAN and not IN. IN and USN are more like allies right now if any conflict flares up in SCS.
