The United States has denounced China after it passed a new law giving police wide-ranging powers over foreign NGOs, many of whom are suspected to be working on behalf of the US government.

US National Security Council spokesman Ned Price said in a statement on Wednesday that the United States is "deeply concerned" over the law, which will come into force in January of next year, AFP reported.

The law "will further narrow space for civil society in China and constrain contact between individuals and organizations in the United States and China," Price said.

The new measure also bans foreign NGOs, or non-governmental organizations, from recruiting people or raising funds in China.

"Recognizing that a vibrant civil society is a cornerstone of stability and prosperity, the [Obama] administration has expressed strong support at every level for the role of civil society in China," Price said.

"We urge China to respect the rights and freedoms of human rights defenders, journalists, business groups, development professionals, and all others who make up civil society, including by protecting the ability of foreign NGOs to operate in China,” he added.

Who fund American NGOs

Commenting on Washington’s strong reaction to the new Chinese law, American anti-war activist and journalist Bruce Gagnon said, “It's always amazing and comical to hear US elites clamor about various countries sending American NGOs packing.”

“By now I'd hope most people know that many of these so-called NGOs inserted in countries where the US wants regime change are in fact funded by the CIA, USAID, National Endowment for Democracy and George Soros' Open Society Foundations,” he told Press TV on Thursday.

“These ‘NGOs’ have been repeatedly caught red-handed doing illegal and unethical operations inside Cuba, Venezuela, Ukraine, Brazil, Russia, China and other countries. The US uses these NGOs to create internal destabilization and chaos and calls it ‘democracy’ promotion. Beware of US NGOs handing out money,” stated Gagnon, who is the coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space.

And yet we allow China to build Confucius institutes on our soil.

A good start, but not enough.

A better supervision needs to be ensured.

The most important thing the new law brings is financial accountability, that is, asking NGOs where they receive their funds and to what purpose they are being used.

And yet we allow China to build Confucius institutes on our soil.

Go ahead. I am not particularly happy to the idea of teaching complete foreigners our language, culture and philosophy. That would also help the government save some tax money.

Oh really, just look at what is happening to my home town, then we should decide rather the CCP make a good decision or not. As we all know Hong Kong have been receiving "help" from NGOs since returning to China, and what we the HK people have been getting so far are:
1.)corrupted legco members who receive money from a "self-proclaimed" good friend of Ash Carter;
2.)irresponsible media which constantly spread fake news and harass government officials and their family in the name of "freedom of press";
3.)biased educators who teach kids to hate police, inaccurate history, and mostly their political agenda;
4.)a bunch of brainwashed young people who threw bricks and occupied streets to achieve HK independent.
Now I think you should have enough to form your own judgement.

Let's not lump NGO's into an "all bad" basket.

(so this all a sham? You want them banned too?)

I think the CIA (Which is actually not responsible for recruiting any overseas asset) doing a very good job misinforming the Chinese regrading how capable they are.

Every time I saw, read, hear that NGO or any "aid-agency" are controlled by CIA and as a recruitment tool I laugh out really loud, those people have no idea how espionage work, if anyone have half a brain would have know and understood that you don't recruit local asset with foreign organisation......May as well put a CIA recruitment ads on any Chinese Classified ads

By the way, CIA don't recruit any foreign agent, people say this is those who watch too much TV. CIA only train American intelligence officer, all overseas asset does not work for CIA nor American government, heck, most overseas agent don't even know they are feeding information to the Americans...lol

American spy agencies are known to fund some of these NGOs to use as cover for their spy operations or to create political instability in foreign countries. The law is long overdue, and certain NGOs such as National Endowment for Democracy should be classified as an extension of CIA. Anybody taking funds from them need to get locked up for espionage.

If the US regime learns to keep its mouth shot each time China passes a domestic law, we will be less informed about their intentions.

The die is cast, there is absolute distrust toward the US regime even when (00000.1% likelihood) they in fact intended good.
