I don't know where we are heading towards.its easy for you people to say that "we will do it like we did xyz" but the question is how? everyone knows how culprit this government is and since they came to power we see nothing like development but yes few huge blunders on their part.

Is easy said then done the question is not only Bhasha Dam but hundreds of project like this which are being stuck due to the poor economy ,its amazing to see a country riched with every natural resource don't have a money to even feed her own people?

From HEC to dams ,from roads to jobs, from civilians welfare to defence we have nothing to offer.Even the students who were provided with scholarship from HEC are begging in foreign countries because HEC don't have anymore funds since this government came .everything has been ruined

Its easy for us to sit in front of a laptop and say yeah we will do it but when? i m sick of listening/reading these words since the day Pakistan was created .After 60 years where are we?

A country with gas load shedding?Power crisis? economy which is getting burried with passing of every day?

In 2011 when world is heading towards technology our people are still forced to use LPG calendars , Stoves and all the things which world have left and is just a history now?

From PIA to railway everything is nothing but failure?

Since decades we are listening that a revolution will come and this and that will happen but when?

People are getting aggressive as they are facing difficulties posed by government and they are forced to use violence ,where is that brotherhood that hospitality gone?

Is this my Pakistan? Is this why Pakistan was created? Is this Jinnah's Pakistan?

ECC agrees to raise Rs.20 billion for Diamer-Bhasha Dam project

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP): The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) here on Thursday allowed Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to raise Rs.20 billion for the Diamer Bhasha Dam project. The ECC met here under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. The Committee, on the proposal in a summary moved by the Ministry of Water and Power allowed WAPDA to raise Rs.20 billion for the Diamer Bhasha Dam project.
The Diamer-Bhasha Dam would add 4500 MG of hydro power with live storage capacity of 6.4 million acres foot of water for the irrigation purposes.
The Minister for Water and Power has informed the committee that WAPDA has already raised Rs.8 billion in 2006 and 8 billion in 2007 and is currently servicing them.
The 20 billion funds to be raised by WAPDA shall be under the Government of Pakistan guarantee from the market and shall repay to the Government of Pakistan.

Actually you have it all wrong. Pakistan is current on all payments. Actually ISAF, NATO nd US and over stayed their welcome in the neighbhour hood and the amount we are loosing is mny times the amount of the aid. Also it is not aid most of it is reimbursement of expenses incurred by Pkistn to supply ISAF and NATO. Get your facts staright before commenting on a topic before.

I think your posting is immature when you compare Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan is the 5th biggest country in the world in population. It is rich is textile, leather, furniture, arms manufacturing, agriculture, telcom, IT etc. Pakistan has the fastest growing telcom and IT in Asia. Compared it to poppy growing screwed up country like Afgahistan is basically immature. Pakistan has one of the best educaation systems in the world and Pakistani students compete all over the world as professionals. Every major engineering company and hospital in the US and UK have Pakistani people working in them. Why don't you show me Afghans doing the same things? If you have examples them lets talk.

Maybe FATA is not developed. but I have travelled through Idaho where in some towns there is no power and people use horses in the year 2010 and 44 million people do not have health insurance. So if 25 million people in Afghanistan do not have health insurance I should compare US and Afghanistan . There are people in Georgia in the country without power dude.

It's their money and they have all the right to fund or refuse to fund this project, but I don't think the purpose of building this huge dam is to improve life of the terrorists and thinking along these lines is very naive of you. The construction of the dam would create lots of new jobs in the KP province and thus keep the unemployed youth from falling in wrong hands. The electricity generated through this dam will become part of the national grid and provide opportunities for economic growth in the whole of the country especially in KP province and thus would immediately affect the taliban recruitment.

You wanna deal with the core issue, "Get out of Afghanistan". Thats the core issue. Before you come here and lecture us on what we should be doing, let me enlighten you that the reason this whole region is destabilized in the first place is because of the US invasion of Afghanistan. Before that everything was peaceful. No one ever heard of the term called suicide bombing.
The Dam would be built with or without your support but in the end you are going to loose an ally.
