US believes Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to invade Ukraine

A US carrier group, 1 cruiser, and 10 destroyers have been deployed to Europe. Additional F-15s and B-52 bombers have been deployed as well.
Will not participate, just there incase russia goes after baltics.

The Americans are playing their usual dubious role. I still haven't figured out why the Americans are suddenly so eager to start a conflict with Russia.

American economy is in major trouble with inflation skyrocketing due to massive money printing. They need chaos in the world for investors to buy dollars as a ‘flight to safety’. They think this will help with the inflation problem.

Nothing creates panic amongst investors than a war.

This crisis has three causes: (1) following the urge to corner Russia, something that started already 30 years ago and accelerated in 2008-2014 (2) the deep, pathological and incurable Russophobia of the Anglo-imperial oligarchy in Washington and London, this irrational-emotional element will ultimately play against them as Professor Mearsheimer has well pointed out, and (3) throwing sand in the Machine: breaking economic relations between Russia and Europe in general and with Germany in particular.

What i understand is Russia has nothing to gain from this war , yes some land may be but a stronger NATO (more members joining), strong bases at Russian border, even strict sanctions and will lose Ukraine for good.
I get their prespective that NATO is encroaching in to their territory and threating Moscow but a direct war with Ukraine in my opinion will be detrimental for Russia and will benefit West.

What's wrong with Russia/Putin, why has this country become an occupier/evil? Is this country ready to become a 'POOR' country.

Russia should not do mistake to wage war on Ukraine. This is not good for region and can trigger 3rd world war

Occupier?

Back in 2014,there were elections in Ukraine. The winner was Yanukovich, who was pro-Russian. Then, riots begun in Kiev that eventually kicked out Yanukovich. However, the majority of the people in eastern, south and southwestern Ukraine, had voted for Yanukovich and they were Russian or Pro-Russian Ukrainians. They rose up against this and just like the right-wing and extreme nationalist rioters and others in Kiev had organized their own militias, the eastern parts did the same.

Crimea is not occupied. Crimea had been part of Russia. Most of the people there wanted to join Russia again. So in fact,Crimea came back to Russia.

While most of the other cities and areas with majority of significant pro-Russian population in Ukraine were under control of the Ukrainian government eventually, the area of Donbass, that is Donetsk and Lugansk, still remained "independent" and kept fighting against the Ukrainian forces with its militia and help from Russia.

That's all.

Then the question is, why are Russia/Putin still interfering in Ukraine's affairs? Wow, Crimea is part of the Ukrainian territory but then Russian robbers annexed the crimea territory and you still think it's normal? I can't imagine it's another country. Russia has the largest territory in the world almost half of Asia and Russia/Putin is still greedy to annex the territory of other independent countries. Can't Russia/Putin stop being too 'paranoid'. Look at communist China getting richer and safer.

Take a look at these maps and you might understand

Look, you still justify the annexation! I give an example Iran has many races that have their own language such as Persian, Armenian, Arabic and other races. Then is it possible for countries like Saudi, Armenia, and others to annex Iran's territory on the grounds that they are of the same race and language?
Crimea was part of Russia. It was transferred to Ukraine for some 40 years and after the collapse of the USSR it remained as part of Ukraine as an autonomous region. During the Euromaidan riots, the legally elected pro-Russian president was kicked out. Russians and Pro-Russian population in Ukraine rose up against this. Crimea has majority pro-Russian population. There was a referendum and they voted to become part of Russia. So that returned to Russia. You know, these countries,Russia,Belarus and Ukraine were once one. They are effectively one people, they are Rus'.

Well Putin is not someone who take miscalculated decisions. I still believe this all Russian troop deployment is for putting a pressure on Ukraine and the west to accept Russian demands.
Since all the Russian demands have been rejected and the blockage of all Ukrainian ports by the Russian navy gives us a possibility of Russian invasion. Not just that all that evacuation of embassy staff and intelligence reports. This whole situation is getting confusing.
Let's see next few days are very critical.

While the Russians will almost certainly steamroll the Ukrainians, the weeks and months post invasion are going to be brutal for Russia. Think an Afghan insurgency on steroids.
Calm down Yankee.
There is a vast difference in afghanistan and Ukraine. And unlike Afghanistan Ukraine is the birthplace of Russia. Most Ukrainians are basically Russians by DNA, history, relatives and last but not the least language.
After all there is a reason why Russia can't tolerate Ukraine becoming part of NATO. Ukraine is like no other former Soviet State which Russia can forget and move on.

They won't be holding while country like in Afghanistan this time.
They will hold strategic areas like sea ports and will negotiate from position of strength

Ukraine will be bombed back to the Stone Age. There is a almost a certainty that Donetsk and Lugansk will either be independent or join Russia like Crimea.
Ukraine will be permanently dismantled and dismembered. They are about to lose half their country.

An invasion will only bring Europe closer to the US, and long term pain for the Russians. Finland and Sweden may become official members of NATO. Finland just purchased 64 F-35s. US long range ground based missiles will likely re-enter Europe. Ukraine and Russia will be long term mortal enemies.

Russia will be severely sanctioned. Russian GDP has already declined 25-30% in the last decade. Russia's economy will be ravaged. Thousands of Russian troops will die. There's almost no upside for Russia.

Putin has backed himself into a corner of his own making.

I also expect Typhon batteries armed with Tomahawk and SM-6 missiles to be proliferated to Europe.
