US BASES IN PAKISTAN: TOP POLITICAL, MILITARY BRASS TO SIT TOGETHER ON JULY 01

Decision is done. There will b no US presence in Pakistan.... Period...

These insignificant morons will b briefed and asked to sign upto it

.
The US wants to discourage the Taliban or other elements in Afghanistan from causing any mischief outside Afghanistan. That is it, I think this is aligned with Pakistan's long term goal as well.

I wasn't suggesting a 'hired gun' see above.
americans practically misled pakistanis
they went out peacefully and kept us holding the bag
there biggest fear was talibs coming in hunting americans like vietnam
for that we were expecting alote but biden gave a surprise to all
went out lock stock and barrel
asking bases from pakistan is like putting pakistan in odd position now

pakistan didn’t get american game early on
afghanistan was always in pakistani pocket whtever whomever say
mushi could have joined coalition
get 20 billion a year in different aid programs
for supplies he could have asked americans for new railways
he sold us really cheap
we became hired gun but that too for pennies

Thank you! I was saying this last week back when another member attached me and said Mushy rebalanced our loans, etc., I didn't bother responding cause he didn't see the wider picture. It's not about rebalancing but what material gains you received and how much debt you were able to write of which amounted to "0". At this point in time besides F-16s you have nothing else to show; a real shame for a 20 year conflict.

Pakistan policy was a total failure, a Mujra dancer from Lahore's Heera Mandi could've negotiated a better deal.

no, it is some advisor's 'cunning' idea to expose opposition's foreign leanings in front of the people
Entirely possible - either the opposition comes out and supports PTI in not allowing bases to the US and takes pressure off the PTI, or the opposition hedges and refuses to categorically deny bases to the US and loses public support.

Win-Win for the PTI.

I know you’re not, but the US Establishment has never really even tried to engage with Pakistan to develop any kind of a comprehensive and long term relationship - the US scope of engagement with Pakistan has typically been limited to a ‘hired gun’ to deal with whatever regional geo-political challenges existed at the time.

Why?

IMO, amongst various other factors, US analysts and academia advising the US Establishment did not really think Pakistan would last as a nation-state, especially in the face of an increasingly assertive India with a booming economy. With China’s rise as a global power, Pakistan’s strong relationship with China and the US courting India (Pakistan’s enemy) to counter China, the US may have even actively undermined Pakistan via Afghanistan to strengthen India’s hand against China.

There certainly was (is) no incentive for the US to have any kind of broad, long term relationship with Pakistan that would strengthen Pakistan and therefore in turn weaken India’s position against China.

It would be in Pakistans interest to provide some sort of bases to the US. Under very certain and financial generous conditions that is.

Security wise why not? Pakistan could serve as a haven for joint super power security cooperation in the form of bases to both China/US. There is the common threat of extremist from afghanistan. Dont forget 100k pakistanis lost their lives. If the US had spend 10% of what it spent in Afghanistan on Pakistan then today we would be a developed nation.

That is certainly not true. The US is a super power for a reason. They are very pragmatic and logically minded strategic thinkers.

For example they are using India as a hedge against China but what if in the future India gets to powerful and starts to go against US interest? then the US has Pakistan to hedge against India, and Afghanistan to hedge against Pakistan and so on.

From a security and economic point of view the US/Pakistan have a strong interest in close ties. Dont forget the US buys x10 more exports from Pakistan than China does. The US alone tripling our exports would double our overall exports.

No Foreign Military bases in Pakistan , we don't have any such understanding
Free Countries don't let other nations come in and build a military base inside the country

It is against normal principles of society

.

Our weak leadership is a big part of this. They know the leaders in charge are easily influenced through cash. Others just need thier ego looked after and they'll undermine national interest. The bar set by governance in our country is so low you can do what you like at the top with limited political impact.

As a nation We don't even pretend to play be any rules, it's a case of who you know and how far your money goes. If you can buy a country for so little why bother with a serious relationship? What is there to lose?

If pakistan's intentions are genuine, Afghanistan would have been peaceful by mid / late 90s.

Not sure when God will give peace to afghans.

PMLN and PPP didn't expect Imran Khan to say "Absolutely NO", they got shocked, and then whimed about to discuss it in parliment, for they don't want Imran Khan to have this political win in next coming GE, and want their share.
