A joint exercise titled "Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training" (CARAT) between Bangladesh and US navies will be held in Chittagong from September 17.
Bangladesh Navy establishments and two warships including BNS Bangabandhu will take part in the eight-day long exercise.
Besides, two US Navy ships USS Decatur (DDG-73) and USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50) and US Navy Subject Matter Experts (SME) will participate in different exercises, said an ISPR release.
As part of this eventful programme, various instructional events including a Special Sea Exercise participated by both Bangladesh and US Navy ships will be arranged in Bay of Bengal sea area.
Through this joint exercise, it is expected that the professionalism and competence of Bangladesh Navy personnel will be enhanced many fold.
This will also help Bangladesh Navy in capacity building for maintaining appropriate security in the Bay of Bengal and concerned coastal areas.
The visiting US ships and personnel will depart from Bangladesh on September 24 on completion of the exercise
