US backtracks on arms deal with Turkey, denies transfer of warships

CAFRAD: 400 km (not certain)
MAR-D: 70 km
AKR-D: 30 km

Also APAR, X band satellite communication systems are under development by Aselsan.

The range of the armaments stationed aboard TF2000 will be:

Hisar-A: 15 km (15,000 ft) [SSDS]

Hisar-O: 40km (30,000 ft) [SSDS]

Korkut SPAAG/CIWS: 4-5 km [SSDS]

Atmaca AShM: 240 km

Gezgin LACM: 2,500 km

RIM-156A SM-2ER Block IV: 240 km (110,000 ft)

We seek special radars for air defense because air defense is a complex thing. You need different radars. For example: you need IFF Antenna to make sure you're an ally if being detected by an allied ship, or when you detect an aircraft you need to be able to differ it if he's Friend or Foe. You need guidance radars, navigation radars, whether radars...etc.

Great but I mean.. Why are we trying to buy a long range air defense system from China when we can just use these systems that already exist (or will exist soon)?

Those "friend-foe" system along with others are also essential for these ships as well, so if we would use the same systems on the ground as well, then would we not no longer need to buy an air defense system from China or elsewhere?

T-LORADMIS is completely a different tender. It's the land-based national air defense system.

No that's waffling. Turkish IFF is combined under General Staff..all branches DZKK, KKK, HVKK.

chinese system is really a long range one, turkish one is short-medium: fd-2000 has 200+ km operational range, compare that to hisar-a/o systems' range, ceiling of chinese one is 30+ km, i don't know turkish one's ceiling but it's most probably 10-12 km. besides, chinese missile's weight is around 1.3 tons. while the specs of hisar-a/o are not known, i can speculate that it's around 250-300 kg, as hisar is in the range of aster-15 which weights around 300 kg. so, if you put chinese into frigate you'll be in disadvantage, for 1 fd-2000's weight is 1.3 tons and length is around 7 meters, while hisar-a/o's weight is around 250-300kg and length is around 3.5-4 meters. and vise versa, if you put hisar into fd-2000's place (i.e. land-based aad system), you'll be in disadvantage too (hisar being short/medium range aad). also, it's claimed that fd-2000 has abm capability.

It's not about if we need these ships or not. It's about their attitude. They picked a non-NATO ally over a NATO ally. That's the message we should get from this and act accordingly.

Bro, Great post, Thanks.
I am just going to add something.

Since those war ships are going to be Turkish designed, Designers consider to create an adobpable hull on future systems and Many new missile/sensor systems are going to be integrated on warships to operate along with foreign equivalents.

About Surface to Air missiles:

-Hisar-VSORAD (Very short range) (Most probably, Modified variant will have a similar capabilities of RAM)
-Hisar-A (Low altitude)
-Hisar-O (Medium Altitude)

Hisar-O

Striking Missiles

-Cirit-D (Around 8km)
-Mizrak-D (Around 15km range)
-Atmaca SSM (200+km range)
-Gezgin Land Attack cruise missile (Block-I 1500km range)

Cirit-D

Radars

-MAR-D Naval Search Radar
-AKR-D Naval Fire Control Radar
-Alper Navigation LPI radar
-Hazar Naval search radar (Having Longer range than MAR-D) (I hope Aselsan don't postpone development of Hazar like AselFlir-335)
-CAFRAD Multi- purpose APAR radar complex (I expect 350+km radius which makes 700+km scale seach capability) (Aselsan T/R modules on Smart-S radars provide a range of 250km range. Aselsan modules proved superior capabilities so Thales agreed Aselsan to use domestic modules for worldwide Smart-S radar costumers)
-3D long range wide covarage search&early warning AESA radar (I expect to have a range of 400km against aircrafts)

Ongoing warship programs:

140-150m TF-2000 AAW frigate (4)

Turkey is more than capable of building its own capable ships.

When Turkey capable enough to build their own ship then why to beg for OHP lets discard it get more milgem or islambul class for navy .
