WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): An Afghan parliamentarian urged US to stop all financial and military aids to
Pakistan and impose tough economic sanctions on it for its unabated support to organisations that carry out terrorist attacks inside
Afghanistan.
“Not every Pakistani is a terrorist, but every terrorist has a links in Pakistan. They are either trained or their finances are linked with Pakistan. The American Congressmen, Senators all know this,” Mohammad Naeem Hamidzai Lalai, a member of
Wolesi Jirga, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Lalai is currently in a tour of the United Nations headquarters in New York and Washington DC to meet members of the international community, Congressmen, Senators and government officials to brief them about terrorist safe havens and terrorism coming from across the border.
Instead of the US helping Pakistan with military assistance, they could help Afghanistan with the same exact aid, he said.
Not only Pakistan has provided safe havens to terrorists, but also violated the
Durand Line and attacked the Afghan security forces inside Afghanistan, Lalai said.
“US Government should not help or support those countries who train and support terrorist organisations. Instead sanctions must be imposed on such countries, to stop them from doing so,” he said.
“The United States has to realize that the roots of terrorism cannot be eradicated unless its financial aid to Pakistan is stopped. The earlier the better,” he said.
Lalai warned that the Government and people of Pakistan are getting ready to take action against Pakistan, if it continues with its current policy.
