Why not adopt the same gun the Navy uses or to be more precise the Navy seals and EOD? It is a Navy custom made P226 with some unique features such as anti corrosion coating. Sigs are some of the highest quality firearms there are, not cheap but high quality and with the high orders the price will be cheaper.

A quartermaster once told me the average cost fir the Army on M9 is about USD 450 to 500 a piece with about 700,000 ordered...thats around 30 millions in total, now unless sig can offer the army a better deal now then beretta, you are look8ng at about 750 + per (this is the price Army pay for a single 226) it would touch 50 mil if the army replace M9 with 226 on a 1 to 1 ratio

mind you a beretta cost about 700 to 800 USD per civvies while a 226 cost upward to 1000 usd per if a civilian want to get hold if it

there arent no give away, most soldier i know (including me ) usually buy back the side arms from the Army. M4 is another issue as they are prohibited ownership to civilian
