India will buy six AH-64E Apache helicopter, like this one pictured in 2017

The United States government has approved a deal to sell the Indian military six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for $930 million, the State Department said Tuesday.

The agreement has been passed to the US Congress for approval, but if no US lawmaker raises an objection the contract is expected to go ahead.

Boeing and Indian partner Tata have begun to produce Apache fuselages at a plant in India, but Tuesday's approval concerns a direct sale of finished products from US manufacturers.

The lead contractors are US arms, aviations and engineering giants Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Raytheon.

In addition to aircraft, the contract includes night vision sensors, GPS guidance and hundreds of Hellfire anti-armor and Stinger air-to-air missiles.

"This support for the AH-64E will provide an increase in India's defensive capability to counter ground-armored threats and modernize its armed forces," the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said, in a statement.

"India will have no difficulty absorbing the helicopters and support equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region."

So after Snub melodrama we are back to business now:

Modi told UAE to buy Rafael with us.. We might had done great deal with France

155 millions per chopper Excellent business
A deal like this doesn't mean we are buying only the choppers. They also include spares for atleast 5 years and related ammunitions. Along with the choppers the deal also includes latest gen of Stingers and Hellfires, additional engines, blades and various other consumables.

Your computation of cost of individual chopper is completely wrong.

First it's about capability, Russians have no analogous to AH64D, specially if equipped with a Longbow Radar. This was the reason India chose AH64D after considering Kamov Ka52, Mi35/28.

Western equipment do have a higher purchase cost but due to better build quality the life cycle cost are pretty low. Meanwhile it's just opposite for Russian equipment. The purchase costs are low but life cycle cost are higher, along with dodgy supply of spares. We have a very long lists of bad experience with Russian hardware. Be it T90s, Su30s, Mig29s, Adm Gorshkov, Kilos, Antonovs, Illyushins and scores of other smaller weapons system they all had maintenance issues due to non-availabaility or defective spares.

Indian forces have a very long experience with the Russians, hence they are ready to pay extra for a better Western system.

Excellent I got it now

So Russians hardware cheap to buy but expensive to maintain that's a valid point indeed

Can you please tell me like how the Apache better than the Russians counterpart .... to they all planes or choppers thanks.

Russian weapons are made keeping Western weapons capabilities in mind . So I will say they know what they are doing or building. They counter super stealth of f22 with their Powerful radars and Sam to give u an example.

But these are their local products maintenance is cheap and readily available to them. But it's not in the case for India or any other who import them .

Well you are a iraqi , how was your experience with russian arms ? Iraq had a pretty capable and experienced army under saddam hussein but capitulated to the americans in a matter of weeks.
What was your reading of the conflict , from a purely defense viewpoint ? No politics.

You can't count or get any lessons from The second gulf war not even the first one it was especially the second one where the army ruled by baathist while the generals the experienced men they were hand cuffed.

The Russians weapons Iraqi army had mostly belong to the sixties and the seventies even the most capable ones kept on the ground!

Saddam didn't fight simply he afraid the coalition forces over through him if his army make any significant casualties among the western forces.

Russia doesn't have a solution for top-of-the-line stealthy aircraft. Don't be naive.
