US apologises for deadly Pakistan helicopter raid

yes he is right if we look deep our forces are need to restore there moral and pride.:hitwall:

Sometimes you need to sacrifise something and for Pakistan it is ( USA AID ).

Pakistan army is lacking leaders who will not sell their hounour for a few dollars.

Today Blackwater is operating in Pakistan as if they own the country. It really hurts me to see an Islamic nation like Pakistan that is losing their dignity, because some high ranking politici and military are bribed so that the CIA or NATO can operate with any consequence.

BBC News - BBC reporter flees Quetta explosion

Without Pakistan's security service's relentless efforts to protect NATO\S supply line..these scenes bacame common during last few weeks.
Its not just that they are using Pakistan's infra structure,,,also the umbrella provided by Pakistan's security forces comes at a cost.

Whatever message was required to be sent has reached now the requirement is to have a better deal for future cooperation.

.
and do they think Russia or Ex soviet states will let them use their facilities without any money?
Yes! They will charge money. Do you think that Pakistan was not charging any money for the supplies?

It is a matter of revenue generation for any country which is involved in such a deal. Besides, the northern route is considerably safer.

Problem is that we would be loosers, if we over-blow this whole affair. We will loose our trump card and one of the means of revenue generation. And after that, we won't be able to say to them - hey! Stop firing in our territory. This is war brother.

My friend, do you really know what we are charging them……can you show us something as evidence or to backup your above comment…..??????

What’s the use of such trump card that we cannot even be able to use……..and don’t worry we are just reminding them that we have a “trump card.”

An article titled "How Pakistan milks US and NATO" provided some information about this case.

Here is a quote:

The National Logistics Corporation (or the National Logistics Cell, NLC) is an ostensibly civilian entity staffed by serving and retired military personnel, and owned by the Pakistani army. According to the February 2009 issue of the Herald, a Pakistani monthly, it charges NATO between 200,000 to 250,000 Pakistani rupees per container arriving at Karachi, and pays private truckers between 100,000 to 150,000 for moving them to Afghanistan. In other words it makes a neat 100,000 Pakistani rupees in middleman’s fees. Going by an average exchange rate of 65 Pakistani rupees to a US dollar, the NLC made around $1500 per container. The number of containers landing in Karachi daily has varied between 1000 in early 2002, to around 300 earlier this year. Taking the lower figure, the NLC made around $450,000 every day, or over $164 million each year. Between 2002-2008, the NLC made at least $1.15 billion. And the meter is still running.

And it will be gone soon if Northern Route is preferred.

This how much Pakistan is earning by suppling the USA in Afghanistan, BUT the big question is how much does Pakistan spend for protecting these convoys and how many lives have been lost in the wars Pakistan has been forced on.

If the world moves on emotionalism then well we do have such commentators at every shop even at khokha here in Pakistan who think they can move the world by emotionalism

The yankees are paying the private contractors directly. Nowhere Govt of Pakistan is involved here in this payment business neither Pakistan is officially bound to provide security to US/NATO trucks.

The govt here is charging road tax from local trucks but all these trucks carrying NATO supplies have NOT Been charged so far.

I am all for putting the tax them as well.

International geopolitical strategy may not move on emotionalism, but local populations have been incited, motivated and inspired by various kinds of emotionalism since time immemorial, and all types of characters, including politicians, have found this to be a very useful tool.

And here we are talking about US-Pak strategic relations over the years Not about street emotionalism like selling honour bla bla bla that is only useful for grabbing votes.

I understand that. US-Pak strategic relations are much simpler than street level emotionalism. These relations have worked well for both sides based on economic principles for decades now! :)

Yes, you are right world doesn't move on emotionalism, actually this was a very well calculated move by thinking military leadership, based on logic and good argument. They fought their case and actually forced US and NATO to apologize for their act which again was a calculated probe. I think we are into a very complex situation where emotions have nothing to do.

And yes we have a lot many commentators who think that world can move by emotions, you will also find many people who will attribute this to our "able leadership" of Zardaris and Gillanis

Why does Pakistan allow USA make a mockery out of Pakistan. You respect the Pakistan soevereinty or you don't.

I assure you and to everyone eles that America respects all sovereignty around the world...

Its very unfortunate that there are TERROR CELLS within Pakistan, and must be dealt with.

The attack on the Palistan soldiers is tragic to our relations... im sure we didnt intend to kill them... we where just shot at.

Besides.. we are helping deal with the worst flood in PAKISTAN HISTORY

But also these Taliban/Al Qaeda/EVIL/TERRORIST/and all who help them must be dealt with! :usflag:
