I was talking about the present VCP and whether they would make an alliance with the US or not, or whether they would relinquish their power or not. Why would you need to mention Ho? it's not like he could come back from his grave to instruct the VCP to ally with the US.

So in which way is the present VCP Marxist? I'm talking about their practice here, not what their Secretary general says. Can VCP members here answer this?

More importantly, how would this relate to the issue of whether there would be an alliance with the US or not? My contention was that the present VCP is Authoritarian and nothing else. It is neither Marxist nor capitalist. They can call themselves state capitalists or free market socialists or whatever. It is obviously they are a confused bunch and their only main priority is to hold on to power. They are smart enough to know that a formal alliance with the US would mean that their political power would be compromised.

I am not interested in the modern day Vietnamese Communist Party. It is a lost cause and everyone in VN know it. Nevertheless, just like the Chinese Communist Party, it has no choice but continue to put a public face of Marxism else it would be known as an amoral party.

Am talking the inevitable time when Marxism would be finally exorcised from VN, which would be in my life time, and if that new Vietnamese government know what is good for the country, it would steer VN away from China and Russia. If bad blood is the criteria, then VN and China have thousands of yrs worth between them while the US have only a few.

An exorcism is needed because there are still believers of Marxism at every levels of the Vietnamese government. However they deal with the contradiction between their beliefs and reality is not my concern. So despite the obvious fact that because the majority of Viets are borned after 1975, have no emotional ties to the war, and want ties to the US, the holders of political powers still rests in the hands of the foolish and confused few.

Just 150 years ago, the were still roaming around. Do you know they look just like us? Their civilization advance is not as high as us. That's why they perished. I played colonization since childhood. Its my favourite game. Your fathers fought for VN independence war from France and later US. The US allies are basically US vessel states. Don't you see? All states which are US allies are either heavily Anglo blood or be acquired as a result of world war 2. What would happened if there is no any Asian state which can defeat US?
