US Air Force to spend $10 billion on 6th gen air dominance platform and air-air weapon through 2023

Not sure dogfighting will be "completely removed" from the picture. I personally think there will always be warfare where visual contact is inevitable.

The other item I would add to your list that we pretty much know for certain is that the 6th gen platform will most certainly be 'tailless,' as in something along the lines of those pics.

You also HAVE TO hand it to the Chinese for what they've been able to develop to this point. The J-20 is something that took us all by immense surprise and has definitely put the pressure on the Russians, much more so than the US.

Its more the speed at which they developed it. Hui Tong had a little part of his website talking about the XXJ. This was circa mid to late 90's. From what I recall the USNI was expecting the XXJ to enter service around 2020 or so.

The first flight of the J-20 in 2010 or 2011 was certainly a surprise.

Off topic. Can you believe how fast time has flown by!

It's remarkable what the Chinese have done. I don't think anyone can say they weren't surprised or aren't impressed with their accomplishments to date.

I also think the US is very comfortable in its pace. The ones who are most likely feeling the pressure are the Russians IMO. PAK-FA needs to speed things up if it doesn't want to be left behind.

Don't remind me. I was in my 20's just a few years ago, not sure why I was celebrating my 52nd birthday a week ago!
