Not sure what you mean. The US Congress has already approved $1.4 trillion in defense spending through 2018-2019 with budgets now focused on near peer competitors. This is not "we will do", it's reality.

US defense R&D alone jumps 24% in 2019.

US is developing lot of stuff as we speak.

In-fact, it is typical of us Asians to boast a lot but Americans deliver from time-to-time.

F-35 was an ambitious project, incorporating 3 specialized designs, and for export. US was not bearing its expenses on its own - money poured in from scores of countries.

6th generation fighter project is similar to F-22 Raptor. American-exclusive.

Nothing matches the US R&D complex.
Both in innovation and spending.

When it works you get the F-15, F-16 and F-22.. even when it doesn’t you get the V-22 and F-35.. still efficient systems.

Unlike other nations which only have access to their own countrymen and their brain pool; the US gets the brain pool from the entire world.. including China.
