Urgent | US Senate supports Donald Trump administration's plan to sell F-35s to the UAE

Not happening. AIPIC is supporting this deal publically and behind the scenes. They were behind the deal materializing. Veto is only for major things not some insignificiant arms deal that could also deteriorate US influence in the region if they don't honor the agreements. This deal is a done deal. I even said the deal was done before the senate green lighted and it was just a formality

No, it is not done by a long long shot. AIPAC, has sway but Biden not a fan of the Saudis/UAE.

" Joe Biden’s top foreign policy adviser said Wednesday that the Democratic presidential candidate was unsettled by Trump administration plans to sell F-35 advanced fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates. "

Not the sort of statement that would indicate this is a "done deal" at all.

That interview is 2 months old before Biden even won anything. It is the deep state that runs stuff both parties just dance to the same tone. Anything else would be a diplomatic nightmare hence the way you see things is blurred

Ah OK, the old, "I am right because the Deep State" argument trumps the stated position of the President Elect argument. I forgot....

We'll find out in a few weeks/months how this will play out, once Biden officially takes office.

Quite frankly, the GCC Arabs got thrashed by a ragtag group of Houthis and took the anger & frustration at their own incompetence & failure out on Pakistan for not supporting their ill-conceived conflict in Yemen, so maybe they do need all these bells and whistles.

It's what they do best - use their oil wealth to buy all the latest shiny toys to paper over their military incompetence and exploit the cheap labor from developing countries to build up their countries.

At the end of the day, their fear (and the recognition of their incompetence deep down) was exposed pretty clearly in their tantrums against Pakistan for not supporting a conflict against a bunch of rag tag rebels in Yemen, despite their already overwhelming military superiority. If they think they can take on the Turks after failing against the Houthis, well, it's their oily funeral.

This is a good point. They have totally misjudged things to a terrible degree.
Jumped on board the Trump/Israel bandwagon and now going to pay the price. Geo poltics is shifting and a new regional block taking shape.

US - Will be pretty nonchalent about the GCC moving forward. US has no real need for Gulf Oil and should the Iran deal be back on the table you can expect withdrawl of most US forces now in CENTCOM. No way Biden will put his neck on the line for MBS/UAE

Iran - With the huge Chinese deal and potentially the US/Iran nuke deal back on I imagine a much stronger conventional force in 5-10 years from now. Possibly J-10s, SU-30s, S-400s etc.

Turkey - Probably the most effective force in the region and now every well equipped to project power in the GCC via base in Qatar and it's Navy. Could sink the combined UAE/Saudi fleet in a heart beat I imagine.

Qatar - As we know massively upgrading it's air force after the GCC blockade. With the right pilots and technicians will be able to hold off an air assault

Pakistan - Really depends what we do now but I can very well imagine Pakistan going all out to help Qatar as they have remained staunchly friendly, with it's AF upgrade and even doing joint patrols with Turkish Navy in the Gulf (as well as MILGEM ships the upgrades to our Agosta 90Bs make the subs almost Turkish with regards to internal fit). Also do not discount the fact that if there was any secret nuke agreement between Saudi and Pak this may no longer be adhered to....

Symbolic. Biden can use Presidential Veto on this sale, and in all likleyhood he will.

Yeah probably

More then that, the U.S has you on a chain

It means if you don't follow U.S orders they pull the plug in upgrades, further sales etc

Both Pakistan and Turkey have faced that issue

The tragedy of the Arabs is that they are spending 23 BILLION this time, Saudis billions more, other Arabs BILLIONS more
And the fuckers can't even attempt to make a plane for themselves or a cruise missile or ballistic missile

Honestly hundreds of billions have been wasted over the decades and the U.S has pissed all over the Arabs and sold them weapons with zero consequences

Shameless people

Shameless people
Not the people so much as their leadership.

Let's be careful to not tarnish an entire community and make derogatory generalizations about them.

The Arabs are human beings like the rest of us, struggling to push past traditional socio-cultural inertia and evolve, much like Pakistan. Leadership has a big role to play in helping advance this evolution of societies, as we Pakistanis can testify to after suffering decades of poor, self-absorbed and corrupt leadership.

And thats fair enough, but Arab strategic planning seems to be centered around buying protection from the U.S

Even where it seems that they have a plan of forming a Arab alliance of states, you have to question where their own development of weapons is, with the amounts they are spending they should have a flourishing industry with multiple Arab/muslim states to sell to

Instead you see them sycophanticly suck up to states like the U.S, France and now Israel and the hindutva Indians

Despite the money it's difficult to respect such people

There would be more admiration and respect if they had stated that they were linking up with Saab or the South Koreans or something to develop a new fighter plane rather than dump another 23 BILLION in the U.S lap

Cry me a river. Houthis are starving as we speak and that war ain't stopping never ever. Trashed is someone who left like Ze Americans. The Houthis ain't gonna outpatient or outlast anyone here.

The nonsense jealousy keep coming out from the same quarters. UAE is moving towards the future and doesn't bother with some bitter small peasant people.

F-35 DEAL will get nixed bla bla. It's only wet dreams is what is left that is all I see at this point. UAE will prosper and keep bulking up and soon Insha-allah Nuclear power. They will definitely reach that status sooner or later.

As for these wishing ill wills on the UAE will vanish eventually but THE UAE will stand tall as the future belongs to UAE

No one wishes ill on UAE my friend, least of all Pakistan, Pakistan would not be where it is without steadfast UAE support in the past, and UAE is second home to many many Pakistanis, but it would be remiss not to outline important changes in the world that are occuring know.

UAE does not have the will or the capability to become a nuclear power.

You have no idea friend. Anyone who wants to survive wants to become a nuclear power that's the reality. All the countries in the Gulf or middle east have nuclear aspirations and some of them even secretly nuclear powers such as Saudi Arabia accordding to FBI and CIA

Well, The UAE probably needs all these weapons against the Houthis after withdrawing in shame and defeat from their poorly thought out misadventure in Yemen - you know, the one their Minister Gargoyle was bashing Pakistan over not supporting.

Has Gargoyle apologized to Pakistan and admitted he was completely wrong, and Pakistan correct, about Yemen yet?

Why not name and shame the sorry sod. Heard he originally got Indian roots.

I really do not think Saudis would be going apes++t about Iran if they were nuclear powers and the US would certainly never allow it. I think you are entering world of conspiracy theories now. Money alone cannot buy you nuclear power

The U.S and Israel will never allow it and the Arabs will do what the U.S tells them

If you don't think so then your confused
