Unlikely military victories from around the world

Ouvrage Cap Martin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
TIL, that during the Italian invasion of France, 9 French soldiers defended the Pont Saint Louis against 5000 Italians for 10 days - of which 700 Italians were killed or injured. Eventually an Armistice was agreed. : todayilearned
9 French soldiers halted the advance of 5000 Italians for 10 days straight, inflicting 800 Casualties on the Italians.
This I think by far is the greatest modern military victory.

Then there is this mess up by the Mujahideen and SSG:
Battle for Hill 3234 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

39 Soviet VDV survived an onslaught of 200-400 Mujahideen along with SSG embedded into them lead by Jalaluddin Haqqani.
According to the Soviet estimates, the Mujahideen lost over 200 men. The Mujahideen wore black uniforms with rectangular black-yellow-red stripes. The VDV lost 6 men and 28 wounded.

Ssg did not engage in active combat with Russians. Not more than two ISI/PA men were deployed in a single sector at a time. Many stories about SSG fighting Russians in hand to hand combat are fake.

interesting fact of the day is that the roman general burned a bridge so that his troops can't flee the scene of the battle with parthians , and this gave way to the proverb "the bridge is burned there's no going back" , a german proverb ...
