Unfair tax by PIA

Further to my last thread The economic terrorism policies of Punjab Government I would like to ask one more question to my fellow friends.

I recently travelled from London to Lahore via Karachi. In Karachi we had a stay of approximately 8 hours. Many of the passengers were travelling to Islamabad or Lahore via Karachi. Once we got the luggage at Karachi Airport and went in the cue for booking luggage for Lahore flight, some of us were asked to pay "additional taxes" of 300 rupees before they are allowed to board the next flight.

My question to my Noon League friends is, what kind of law is this when you have already been charged all the taxes before hand and you have already completed half of your journey before you are forced to pay more taxes or else you are stranded at Karachi Airport?

Could you please provide a reason for that?

I wasn't charged anything at all but for example I met a guy who came with me in the same flight and was supposed to travel with me to Lahore together, he was forced to pay additional taxes at Karachi airport for completing his other half of journey. I later heard from many people about the same so-called "additional taxes" complaint. Imagine if you don't have money in your pocket? Are you not stranded... How does PIA justify this stupid act of overcharging its customers?

I have a feeling that those members holding foreign passport were not charged additional taxes and those holding Pakistani passport were forced to pay additional taxes but I am sure not about that.

bhai i must blame you . its your fault that you fly an international flight on PIA while we even worry to fly PIA local . i have never ever fly on PIA for international if i have to prefer i select air blue or shaheen

The problem is, Pakistan is such a peaceful country that PIA's rivals suspended operations in Pakistan many years ago. I used to travel with British Airways whenever PIA tried to overcharge me before British Airways stopped her operations in Pakistan. There is no direct flight/airline going from London to Pakistan except PIA.

Options with stop-over is available but it can be pretty lengthy at times

Define some? Isnt tax applicable on everyone or do they see what sort of luggage you are carrying?

Question is why isnt the bloody airlines put to rest or privatized instead of bailing it out it should have been sold off for 2 Rs!

I think they taxed Pakistani passport holders and let the foreigners travel with more ease... I am only speculating here as I am not sure about the criteria of imposing Additional taxes on selective people and letting others go free.

Overcharge customers - and they overcharge themselves through the most INCOMPETENT management ever seen in any business entity. Over-staffed, inefficient, corrupt. What a pathetic state of affairs for an airline that was once the darling of the skies -given how many Pakistanis fly every day domestically and internationally this airline should have been a success story like Turkish Airways...nepotism, arrogance and absolute incompetence/mismanagement have brought it to its current condition.

read on Air Asia please, and how airlines can be turned around. One just needs to have the ability to fire people, which in this country,is tantamount to political suicide in the eyes of our leaders. This airline is a gold mine being mismanaged, the number of expats alone could drive this airline to great heights, if sincere capable people run it... Guess I better wake up

This is just one example of unfair repeated tax on single item. Actually it's normal thing in Pakistan, as no one speaks and people are behaving like sheep, so they will keep on squeezing.

You buy a telefon card, pay tax on it. Again, you select pakages, every package is bound with tax. You call someone, then again is deduction. So how many times you have paid tax on this card? No one thinks and it countinues for every item.

wow. how the hell did you get that discount? me and my mother flew from karachi to doha on aug 15, and we had to pay a tax of rs 950 PER PERSON.
someone stop this NS guy from becoming PM man!
