There are lots of exciting projects in Vietnam! Golden river project, Goldmark city
Off topic;

In one of Lee Kuan Yew books, he mentions evicting farmers/peasants off land, to build new buildings they would later inherit. When they first moved into their new multistory housing, they bought their farm animals in with them!
It will be a painful transition but one necessary for Vietnam's goal; only a non democratic party would be able to get away with this.

In 1979 Margaret Thatcher planned to purchase land in Indonesian and Philippines for Vietnamese refugees she was reluctant to take into the UK, Lee Kuan Yew blocked this plan as he feared it might become a "rival entrepreneurial city".

Hanoi seeks $115.5 billion to become the second Singapore

Ha Noi, for the first time, has had its most detailed urban master plan to 2030 with a vision stretching to 2050, in which a city centre and five satellite towns will be fully connected and provide support to each other for collective growth and development.

The city has so far listed 52 projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model calling out for investment in the next five years and another 43 projects to be funded by the private sector. They were estimated at VND338.7 trillion ($15 billion) and VND372.2 trillion ($16.5 billion) respectively.

Ha Noi is setting its eyes on transforming itself into a global financial hub like Hong Kong and Singapore after 2030, said Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung at the conference.

I so hope this happens!

Vietnam is poised to be the economic powerhouse in SEA due to better management and improving infra. Transition is always socially painful but a necessity. This is actually what separates a true rising power from an abstract, emotional, future tense power. Good going.

Supa Powa should not be comparing itself with China, it should try to compare with Vietnam now. :lol: By 2030 India will have surpassed Saigon :enjoy:
I can personally confirm, cities like Hanoi, Saigon, Nha Trang were pretty decent back in 2012.
No problem walking at night on the clean streets in downtown

Vietnam still got long road to go, we don't kid ourselves. This is what Vietnam had war for, its right to self determination.
